Emery County Progress Salina Police Chief resigns Salina - Salina City is looking for a new Police Chief after Bill Pierce turned in his letter of resignation. Pierce has decided to take his retirement effective August 31, following a career in law enforcement. He has served Salina City as Police Chief for the past three years and has accepted a job as a counselor at the Richfield Residential Hall. As a licensed counselor with a Masters degree in psychology, Pierce has always hoped to work with youth in a counseling setting, but was planning on working in law' enforcement for a few more years. However, he said the opportunity to work became available and problems in Salina City are two of the reasons he decided to leave.
