Dawgs and Hawgs met on the football Held. The tension was high and pride and bragging rights were on the line. Only a week before this showdown took place, the two teams had met with the t, Hawgs holding on for a - four-poin- Dawgs were out for revenge!! As the game began, the Dawgs didn't waste any time. In the first few minutes of the game Wesley Applewhite of the Dawgs, and the leagues most valuable quarterback, hit a consistent receiver, Bruce Hargove with a 15 yard touchdown pass. The Dawgs were successful on the two-poi- nt conversion play and took the lead, - As the Hawgs fought the tough Dawg defense they 8-- 0. weren't . much gaining ground. The Dawgs held them, regained the ball and with a 45 yard connection from Applewhite to Hargrove the Dawgs took over an even larger lead of '16-- 0 after another successful conversion. When things started to look up for the Hawgs they came alive with a 35 yard touchdown pass and a conversion to bring the score to 16-The touchdown fired up the Dawgs defense and they didn't waste any time on the to score. When the Dawgs took possession of the ball,, they were down and their intensity was gone, this Showed up clearly when Applewhite threw a 45 showdown the Unknowns and the 65th MFs took to the field. With the MP's struggling all year for participation; tonight they had to take on the Unknowns with only seven players. The MPs won the kick-of- f . strong Unknown defense (no pun intended). The MP's were forced to punt the ball away. Tonight both defenses were fired up. Neither team letting the other gain any ground. Finally halfway into the first half Greg Tadlock of the MFs threw a pitchout to Kenneth Broussard who ran 50 yards for a touchdown. They were held on the conversion and took a 0 lead. The Unknowns took possession of the ball on the kickoff but couldn't pull off the needed plays to break the MP defense. Tracy Mullendore threw a bad pass into the end zone that bounced off Thomas Nickens and into the hands of Troy Coleman who rant it out to the 20 yard line for the offense to take over. The MFs began strong and scored on an ever popular 35 yard pass from Tadlock to Broussard. After missing the conversion they went ahead 12-As the Unknowns took pos6-- VanLeuween to Jimmy Keetch. This put the Unknowns on the board trailing 12-When the MPs took over the ball the Unknowns were psyched up and ready to play. They held the MP's and e connection as the play and victory for the Dispensary . The Tooele team dominated the first half offensively. As the Hawgs tried and failed to fight the tough Dog defense it was obvious who wanted the game the most. Tooele scored first on a 10 yard touchdown run.
