V it ' V. V Summer reading program concludes V ' , August 9 marked the official end with a party and awards given out for the youngsters who participated. A record breaking 62 children signed up for this year's program and they, all outdid themselves by reading a grand total of 231 1 books for the eight week period. The highest achievers in the 7 year old category were Annie Vernon reading 148 books and Craig Livingston who plowed his way through 80 books. In the 9 year old group, Erin Moore finished up by reading 159 books and Shane Jorgenson led the boys by reading 104 books. Not to be outdone, in the 10 years and up age category, Stacey Winklepleck read 80 books. Nineteen other children were given free movie passes and Special Recognition Awards were given to Lori Vernon, who read 136 books, and Ryan Harper reading 76 books for showing the most determination throughout. All the kids were winners, hoWever, and should be congratulated for making this year's Summer Reading Program the best ever. f JV cents. 2. Pledges: a) Nine month- available. Unfortunately, as you know, these seats are expensive. Here is the GOOD NEWS. Child restraint seats are available at the PX (and they make wonderful shower gifts) or the following organizations have them available on a rental basis. The cost is minimal. Tooele Health Dept, charges $10.00 per year and then return $5.00 to you when the seat is brought back. The Baby Boutique in Kearns sells used, refurbished safety seats at reduced prices. Teach them young and teach them right. Seatbelts and child restraint seats are the best form of life insurance available. Even if you are foolish enough not to wear a seatbelt, at least protect your child who has his whole life ahead of him. .
