Amber, her husband, Steven and sweet little baby girl. Opal Mae, who had such a brief time here on earth. We express our love and sympathy to all of you. This has been quite a week for the Thompson family as they had a lot to celebrate about. In a special baptism on Saturday, Shan Thompson was baptized by his father, George A. Other family friends who attended the service included Ruthella, Mandy and Travis Laub from Enterprise; Clay, Darla, Katie, Jenny and Amy Schmale from Riverdale; Bryce and Kimberly Fletcher from Orem. Rosie Fletcher came to spend the weekend with her mother and also to hear the mission report. Family and friends enjoyed a lovely dinner following the service and just to visit. Trish Thompson and her sister, Rosemary took Rosa Lee to Salt Lake City to join her singing group as they are performing in the northern Utah area. The sisters will spend several days searching for family records. Visiting Larry and Glenna Fletcher were Gail Fletcher of Provo and Leon Fletcher of Jerome, Ida. Word was that Don Mangum had another fall while in a care center but is doing much better. Dorothy Lcavitt is also doing quite well. If anyone is traveling through Panguitch, they could surely use a good visit or two. Spoke with Craig and Lee Twitchell the other day at the market in Cedar City. They are both in the real estate business in the New Harmony area. They said property was scarce but would love having any of the hometown folks stop by their office for a visit. It seems everyone has had either the flu or is having the flu and I am no exception. I stopped by the Panguitch Clinic and here I am in Cedar City with my daughter, Rosie who is taking care of me for the next few days while I get my strength back. You guessed it. I surely am homesick and looking forward to turning the lights on again in my own house. Don*! miss that important meeting of yoar town council! Mar, 24. 2005 GARFIELD COUNTY NEWS By Marlene Haws 826-4859 marleneh@color-country.net We are due for another big storm, folks! I just got my car all cleaned up, inside and out, so that is a sure sign! I also got my personal history put together this week and it kinda made me think about what Gordon Shurtz said to me a few years ago. We were visiting at the cemetery on Memorial Day. The flowers, grass, etc. looked so pretty and Gordon said, "Well, I'm ready to go anytime! I've been every place I wanted to go and done everything I wanted to do. I've been to Tijuana and Wayne County, so I can go anytime!" But you can't kid a kidder. Ifeitherheor I thought we would "go" tomorrow we would probably put up a '"big" fight! Pat and Bobbi Coughlin just got back from a trip to Hawaii. Pat has a brother who lives there. From what I hear Pat could get used to the life over there quite easily. Trisha Coughlin also spent a week there. Vickie Shulkoski and her daughter, Andrea, just returned from a trip to Idaho. They each drove a vehicle. Vicky has a new car so they drove her van up and gave it to her mother. Nice gift! Howard Miller spent a little time in the hospital last week. He must be okay. He's back home and going strong! Arnold and Deon Alvey took Velma Boulter to Beaver, where they met Velma's daughter. Sondra Boulter. Sondra took Velma to Provo to be with her 3-A sister, Marie Griffin who is seriously ill. We hate to hear that. We were looking forward to Marie's and Kenneth's visit, since it is getting quite close to the time they usually come down to spend some time here. Don and Ethel Haws brought their grandson, Wesley, from Killeen, Texas and spent the better part of a week here. Don will be back next month to start gardening. {Didn't he just finish digging the carrots from last year?) Rolain Alvey went to Salt Lake last week with her friend, Anne Reynolds of Panguitch. Anne had doctor appointments and Rolain went along to keep her company. It was spring break in St. George, so Shaylee Evans came to spend the week with her grandparents, Francis and Barbara Imlay. They were cooking up a storm the day I visited their house. The Sons of the Utah Pioneers enjoyed their monthly dinner meeting at the senior citizen center on Thursday evening of last week. It looked like they had a nice sized group. Lewis and Jean Griffin were also here from Provo to join with them. Lois Spencer has had foot surgery again. So that will slow her down some for a while. Heal quickly, Lois, it will soon be time to go camping! Congratulations to Chad Cottam who was one of the top ten picks on the Salt Lake Tribune All State Basketball Team. He was also picked on the Deseret News team.
