'K - i' i - CEU Music brings-Bacand Vivaldi to Price h The Galley East will begin a new This starting March exhibit will encompass the paint- ing talents of U tab's artist's The paintings will run the full range of medium from oils to watorcolor and will represent works from both emerging and accomplished Utah artists This type of exhibit is presented annually by the Utah Arts Council The Utah ArtsCouncil's Statewide Annual isone of the oldest shows of it's type across the nation dating back to the found ing of the Council in 1 899 The competition was predicated in a senate bill authored by Alice Merill Horne which established the "Utah Arts Institute" and called for an annual art exhibit to be held Winning works historically have been purchased and have become part of the Utah State Fine Arts Collection This year's exhibit consists of contemporary painting and sculpture Recent works by Utah artists were 3-- 31 pre-mi- 4 TT f ' f v f i‘ MMtfib CEU bandmembers practice for recital to be held Sunday photo by Bryan Bernard Schubert Mass Concert set for Sunday College of Eastern Utah Department concert continues with a performance of the Schubert Mass in G set for Sunday March 9 at 7 pm in the CEU Student Activity Center Ballroom The concert will featuretheCEU ProMusica String Orchestra and the CEU Choirs Acapelia selections will be performed by the choir and instrumental chamber music by Bach The 1 and Vivaldi will round out the program Seating is limited so come early for the best scats The public is invited and admission is free selected by outofstatejurors James Cooper and Deborah Solon From this exhibit a variety of works have the state with a variety of exhibi-exhib- it tions The purpose of the program is to provide access to an array of been chosen for this year's traveling exhibit The traveling exhibition program is a statewide outreach service of the Utah Arts Council The program provides schixils museums libraries and galleries throughout visual arts nurture the understanding of diverse art forms and cultures and encourage cultural activities in local communities Gallery East is open daily from 8 er to 5 pm "Barefoot in the Park" - Jack 2 - Fly Away Home 3 - Phenomenon 4 - First Kid 5 - Eddie 6 - Alaska 7 - The Fan 8 - Kingpin 9 Bogus -- 10- - am Escape From LA "Barefoot In the Park" opened last night and wlllrun through Saturday In the Geary Theater Curtain time Is 7:30 pm each night Admission Is $5 for adults $4 for youth and senior citizens and )2 for CEU students with activity cards photo by Aaron Brockbank The College of Eastern Utah production of oarefoot in the Park is a hilarious comedy set in New York Corie and Taul are newlyweds just back from a six day honeymoon who are trying to start their life together but things aren't going as planned The apartment is expensive and on the top floor the furniture hasn't arrived yet and there is a hole in the skylight To make matters worse nearly everyone in the building is crazy including the eccentric gourmet who uses their window to get into his room on the roof Corie cleverly attempts to set him up with her mother who is having a tough time dealing with losing a child to marriage Tne result is anything but perfect except perfectly funny Todd Olsen is directing and is very excited about this show for the whole family "You'll laugh you'll cry it's better than CATS 1 le says that only having six actors on stage gives many of tne theater majors a cnancc to work on the technical aspect of the theater Actors in the play include Brandon Jones as Paul (new lawyer and husband) Ryn Kehr as Corie (housewife) Rebecca Hess as Mrs Banks (Corie's mother) Aaron Brockbank as Victor Velasco (upstairs tenant) Gentry Thomas as the telephone repairman and Jeremy Tannchill as the delivery man I |
