in philosophy it seems appropriate that Stannard would be chosen as a master's candidate in philosophy at the University of Utah He hopes to eventually teach you guessed it philosophy impressed He saw the program as “dynamic" and “energetic" and realized that by taking the job he was taking on the responsibility of helping CEU uphold their national status Slannard’s expectations: “if we hold our position in the top ten I'll be SUN Center organization that has been established by all colleges and universities across the slate of Utah to promote service in the communities in which we live CEU's working with children the elderly the environment and much much more Some of the projects that members of CEU have parilicpalcd in the past are a sports camp working with an youth population the angel-tre- e project that helped provide a Christmas for needy families who otherwise would have been left out of the celebration and Take Pride in Utah — in which students from CEU BYU and UVSC worked together in cleaning up the Helper Parkway These are just a few examples of the ways in which members of CEU were able to get involved The SUN Center has details on a variety of opportunities for students staff and faculty to intervene with many of the problems shared in our community and beyond and we always welcome new ideas for service The Center's daily office hours are and we are world we live in today is in crisis and young people have the responsibility to 1 philosophical struggle and change them that intellectual and material gifts brought the privilege and responsibility of of CEU to help us start a movement toward a change in the way we view service in our society No longer should we sec service to our community as an extra curricular activity but as Marian Wright Edclman once said: “I was taught that the world had a lot of problems that I could members sharing with others less fortunate and that service is the rent each of us pays for living — the very purpose of life and not something you do in your spare time or after you have reached your personal ""x CEU selected for new iVs § : ' v‘- I s of the 983 schools Merchandise! with any $25 purchase j of beauty
