the Award-winnin- g home" Walker went on to tell of her struggle to the top with a message to women saying “don't quit pursuing your dreams just because you're not encouraged to fulfill them" She commented on the "discrepancies' of women college graduates still earning the same salary as men who have earned only high school diplomas She added “degree's are not essential for success but they are a licence for opportunities" Walker mentioned that every woman and man had an obligation to solve the problems of the world and make sure that every child male or female reaches his or her full potential The conference focused on a wide variety of women's topics including political legal health and religion issues Paige Petersen a CEU alumna and vice-chai- r of the Associated Students of the University of Utah Government Affairs hoard spoke on “Educational and Political Opportunities for Women: a Student's Perspective" Petersen gave tips on achieving educational success some of which were for students to find ways to gel involved in school stressing on the importance of extracurricular activities and community services “You have to seek recognition and force yourself to do what you dread don't shy away from anything" She said this was a difficult obstacle for women to overcome because they are taught to be humble "One of the most important aspects of college that goes largely unnoticed is the area of scholarships" Petersen commented She advised people to go to libraries and ask for books on scholarships then apply for every scholarship that applies to them Petersen told all of the women that they had an “obligation to act in politics" She said her pet peeve was to hear people complain about politics then not do anything about it She stressed the importance of more women running for office because of the many bills that aren't taken seriously by the older generation of men that would help women Joanc Pappas White an attorney from Carbon County spoke on "Legal Issues for Women" She compared the legal opportunities of women to the saying "You've come along way baby” White slated that the opportunities are "basically unlimited now” She focused on women and Carbon attorney informed the women about the recent legal changes in the matters of sexual and spouse abuse changes in favor of women which has gained a new awareness because of the public outcry and the new generation of young judges Bonnie Cook Casilcview Hospital's chief nursing officer spoke on "Women's Health Issues of the '90s” She talked about such subjects ss breast implants the severity an hour before the round was to start I was absolutely terrified but not Renee she was so calm 1 think that was because she didn't have to speak first But in the end it all made up for it because we took the tournament” Prcssctt on the other hand recalled the time when “after the debate team had stopped to get something to eat we were all slowly piling into the van Ryan Hoglund had stopped to since my high school season Then spring ball came I started the first four games and I don't care who you are most people go through a slump I hit my slump at the first of the season After that I would only play in certain situations JC Recruits me about something and was leaning out of the van Then out of nowhere Joshua Ulibarri came up behind Ryan and depantsed him It look a second before Ryan realized what had happened Then with a little difficulty he pulled his pants back up" Prcssctt said "I don't think I'll ever forget the shade of red Ryan's face turned" Prcssctt and Moore weren't the only ones left with fond memories but perhaps Pullan sums it up best when he stated that "it has been an honor to work with both Renee and Jen The only regret I have is that I won't be able to work with them for one more year” It's hard to get your confidence back when I knew Guymon had lost his confidence in me The only thing that kept me on the team was the players They are the best people I've ever been around I'm glad I got the pleasure of playing with them" Wright also stated This is my opinion and in no way do I want to degrade CEU or the baseball program it was just a bad situation" (cont from pg 7) to go where it is warm Paur looks to recruit in states that belong to the Western Undergraduate Exchange Program "If we get an athlete from those stales they can tuition
