Moving from West Virginia has brought a lot of changes into the life of Rich McCormick who joined the College of Eastern Utah's faculty last fall McCormick has lived in Tennessee West Virginia Virginia and Maryland While in the East he taught business courses at community colleges Because of his expertise in administration he became Director of Institutional Research at Patrick Henry a community college in Virginia The last three years he became strictly administrative and began to miss being in the classroom This emptiness brought about a search for a new position which included administration and teaching This decision for a change in position brought him to Price where he is a hybrid half business instructor and half director of Institutional Research Students are people and not numbers in McCormick's classes "I am concerned about the cost of education” he said For the marketing research class he is currently teaching he searched until he found the textbook he wanted to use for under SIS instead of $50 He feels it is very important for students to get involved in their community nation and world A suggestion was given for all economics 101 students of ck ' De- on bate Association has just released its national ranking of debate teams and the College of Eastern Utah is the first place team among all community colleges in the country The Golden Eagles are also ranked first in the Rocky Mountain Region among all colleges and universities and fourteenth in the overall national colincluding all four-yeleges and universities CEU has been dose to the top all year in junior and community college rankings but is now in first place nine points ahead of a strong team from Santa Rosa California In the Rocky Moimlain Region CEU is 7 points ahead of Arizona thoughts and deeds Another a perfectionist in everything: nothing out of place or in disarray Our goal should be to find ourselves somewhere in the middle and avoid the extremes Olsen believes You need to determine what your underlined principles arc what you would do something for Common underlined principles include: money family friends and yourself If the things that you are doing in life are in harmony with your underlined principles then you probably will feel good about "You need yourWlf and to accept things as they are or accept responsibility for change” Olsen said It is hard to stay happy in a society that is centered around the negative "Substitute positive things in your life don’t dwell on the negative Maintain a daily journal in which you focus on your natural abilities
