percent below salaries of faculties at comparable institutions The annual Faculty Compcn salion Study completed for the Utah Board of Regents reported that four years ago there was a 13 percent gap in salaries between CEU faculty and their peers Last year CElTs faculty salaries ranked ninth place on the list of salaries at comparable institutions This year it is in on the bottom "The situation is critical" President Michael Petersen said "If we don't make some progress in the low salary situation we won't be able to maintain a quality academic environment "In two year's time if you look at inflation faculty salary levels have eroded $2000" Petersen said "It is remarkable how much of our faculty have remained committed to excellence despite the accelerated enrollment growth and the lack of compensation for added responsibilities It is a tribute to the overall staff and an emblem of their concerned about the increasing employee turnover We are losing people to belter salaries in other
