-- CEU’s new business instructor Tom Raiser assists one of his students with an accounting assignment on the computer Excellence in Teaching Award given to Don Burge A graduate of the University of Southern California and Brigham Young University is the Utah State Board of Regents recipient of their Excellence in Teaching Award for 1985 which was presented this year at the Utah Community Colleges Conference held at Dixie College Donald L Burge a geology faculty member at the College of Eastern Utah for the past 26 years was presented with the Regent’s Award for Excellence in Teaching of Regent Board ihursday by member Steven Snow Burge’s name and the College of Eastern Utah have almost become synonymous because of his true devotion and tireless hours he spends on the campus teaching everything from geology to astronomy to archery When he’s not teaching in the classroom he can be found putting together the Stegosaurus Dinosaur Exhibit at the museum spending nights charting the astrological movements of solar systems in the observatory or building targets for his archery students On Saturdays he can be seen at the home football games shooting his cannon everytime the Golden Eagles score a touchdown His classroom teaching experience includes anthropology geology-relate- d classes mineralogy ore processing introductory and college trigonometry physics Colorado and through them is trying to create a new National Dinosaur Park in that region As the director of the only astronomical observatory in Eastern Utah Burge teaches clssaes in the facility as well as conducts at least two viewing sessions per month for students and the public He and his wife Sherril are the parents of four children: Jackie Robert Steven and Sherida Their son Steven is
