Show THE GOLDEN Page Two How Many Activities Do YOU Want? Tonight the Original Caste will present their concert and dance And for the past three weeks the studentbody officers have been trying to sell tickets for the event So far there has been very little response Remember last November when Randy Sparks came to CEXJ? Hardly anyone showed up for the program But those who attended had one of the most enjoyable evenings ever CEU spends a lot of money to bring these activities to the students If only a handful show up it represents a loss to the student funds Without support the officers cannot continue to sponsor these activities Students are really getting a bargain by getting tickets to the Original Caste for $250 At the door it will cost $300 To see diem at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City a ticket costs $5 As inswawc toward future activities support of the Original Caste is vital Come Yol’ll enjoy it! The less active think that they aren't needed— like maybe they are worthless And it seems that lately more students have been sitting back and letting a few do the work Recently at CEU the Associated Women Students held AWS Week To give you an example of what I mean by only a few students taking part at the bingo game alone there were only 12 students who showed up Do you realize that is only 2 of the combined student body Or should I say of the student body and faculty because Mrs MacKnight was part of that Would you like to hear some shocking news? Well I'll tell you anyway The yearbook is being put together by five people But you could almost bet that more than five people are going to want yearbooks when they come out Some more shocking news— this very newspaper is written and put together by two people! Mainly because there aren’t any more students who want to waste their time or get involved Outside participation at CEU is a lost cause! Many of the students might think that they're worthless or maybe that the college is better off without their help Well they're not! The college and its function! need all the students not just a few Reccnty the college sponsored s speech meet How many of you volunteered to judge at this meet? Not very many—just think if you would have participated in this 2! college activity you could have been excused from classes all day But can you imagine the amount of students who would rather "sluff” classes than be excused from them How many college students went to the Heavy H20 Dance a while back? Nine percent that a how many This was a poor representation on the college’s standpoint Especially considering that it was sponsored by the DCs and ABC Gubs How many of you had better things to do? Like drag Main? Matter of fact do you know that the only activity at CEU that gets 100 support is Registration? Which is quite sad considering each and everyone of you pay for the college activities when you pay tuition and feesl Seems more like a waste of money than a waste of time If the college students could realize that It takes more than 2 or 9 participation to make a college a success that more would become active College activities have to be supported in order for that college to progress with time Yes countless are the sand grains of time unnoticed and uneventful the grains dissolve into the past Each grain Is transitory— but not be forgotten they are small— to be sure— but they are always present The wealth of one worthless—but put a thousand grains together and you have the foundation for a day grain-eeemi- ngly Partners of Alliance (Continued from Page One) under the direction of Roger Allen is now undergoing a new program which will give the children In Bolivia an opportunity for a better education If the Partners for the Alliance established at the College of Eastern Utah is able to raise two thousand dollars it will be matched by the Bolivian government to help build a new high school Many activities have been planned for the near future to help raise this designated amount It will be announced at a later date how you can become Involved In this worthwhile project to help the people of Bolivia help themselves |
