Show GOLDEN EAGLE Page Two Wednesday February 14 19G8 Guest Editorial The staff of the Golden Eagle is certainly to be commended for the splendid effort made in the publication of a weekly newspaper for the studentbody of CEU This is indeed the first lime at CEU that a weekly paper has been published and this in itself shows the splendid effort made by the staff and their advisor In reading the paper every week the caliber of the articles has been commendable It is particularly refreshing to read articles that arc well written and show good taste and intellectual maturity But on the other hand it appears that life at CEU is either an Utopia or else the students are apathetic One of the important functions of editorials in a newspaper is to serve as a crusader to arouse discussion on controversial issues even if they are not immediately pertinent to the community If we notice the editorial pages of any newspaper that is serving its readers we find discussions that amuse activity and cause the public to examine pertinent issues On the other hand controversy just for the sake of controversy criticism that is unproductive or rebellion just for the "hell of it" is certainly not what I am referring to In the future it would be interesting to see what effect raising worthwhile controversial issues would have on the attitude of students toward the Golden Eagle This could possibly create more interest in its readers However maybe everyone is satisfied with the status quo Al Trujillo WATCH THIS SPACE NEXT ISSUE ! !
