half C EU got double figure scoring efforts from all five starters in swinging to the win over Northwest Community College Ken Reynold playing at center led with 27 followed by Brent Marriott with 23 and Bob Algrin with 21 Substituting for Mai Neely and Rick Collins Rudy Polesbrook and Martel Muhle-stei- n came through with 10 and Bob’s 21 12 points respectively point performance marks his best Neely tried out his injured leg for a brief stint in the Weber game but then hurt it some more so his return to the lineup is still uncertain Rick Collins’ ankle is fairly well Rick may see some action this week if not this week definitely next week Coach Curtis Jenson feels the loss of Mai and Rick for a time to injuries may prove to be valuable in (he long run Martel Rudy and Ralph have gained a lot of valuable experience along with the rest of the reserves As a result the Engles should have a much stronger bunch Tonight the Engles tnke on the Utah Slate in a benefit fame for the Ann Muhlestein This partial starter (for the previous three games) and top reserve man combines his 6 3” and 168 lbs to give the Eagles quickness and increased depth back-u- p Martel got his start at Provo high school though he originally lived in Orem His excellent prep career gave him the honor of being on first string last year starting at forward Though basketball took most of his hours he did find time to participate in the Ski Club and work with Theta Chi He would though like to continue basketball at the U of U All-Regi- His excellent playing attracted the attention of Coach Jenson who gave him the chance to play with the Eagles He took the offer and is definitely doing an excellent job Martel finds that college ball is more refined put in with more competition to boot His favorite shot is the jumper The chance for nationals he feels is definitely in The fast break and the outside shooting arc what will get us there Martel thinks our only set back will be injuries These will be gone by this Saturday’s game (We hope) Martel being only a freshman has done a tremendous job and the dean RICK COLLINS One of the bigger men on EU’s campus is Rick C Collins starting center on the ranked Eagles He is also the A M S Representative which shows he is quite diversified Rick stands at 6’ 9” and hits the weights at about 192 lbs Rick has been doing a very good job on cleaning the boards and putting in the points that are needed He’s been starting for all the Eagles games new except the last one which was duo to a sprained ankle He’ll probably be playing Saturday night if he can get the ankle functionRick is the ing Rick started his career at Nicalct high school in Milwaukee Wis After four years at Nicalct he received a letter of interest from Jack Gardner who later connected Rick up with Curt Jenson who has worked with Rick now for two years Rick would like to continue playing basketball after he leaves CEU that basketball is much better on the college level The
