Show p Bnif THE CARBONICLE JIM' JOT I Spring has sprung and as usual a young man’s fancy turns to baseball And it seems that the sun shines fairly bright in the Coach Jewkes seems to have experienced Dino camp this senson with horschide crew returning lcttermcn in every position The pitching staff that has been perienally weak seems to have a turn for the better this year and perhaps we’ll team Fratto and Marchetti see a fine hold top mound positions as of now with their it The team is so loadand two-h- it games respectively can ed with talent and everybody play everywhere so the catch will be who will play best where The line-up- s for the Grand Junction series worked quite effectively Anybody with any love for the hard ball game can see that this is a terrific crew with speed power defense and now evidently pitching power too If bad luck and injuries don’t start it’s going to take some real good teams to stop the boys from going to the state The college looks to be in good condition as far as the baseball team goes with returning veterans and lcttermcn swelling the ranks and talented frosh coming up no-h- es as we said before is also in the Olympics now This is a very good team event and there have been some very good games going on between college boys between periods in the college gym It seems a shame that this isn’t incorporated into the intermural program And speaking of intramural programs it seems a shame that we don’t have one for the girls In years gone by there was a girl’s Athletic league in Carbon and in almost all other schools there is some similar organization to boost female participation in sports By watching the crowds that gather to watch girl’s gym play basketball we dare say that this would meet with approval with the whole student body If nothing else let’s have a girls field day Oh well something to think about Well fishing will be coming up pretty soon and with it water skiing and swimming and the rest of the herd of summer sports It seems a shame that there isn’t a sportsmans’ club at Carbon that could carry the fellowship of the school into the summer months This club could also perform some beneficial acts for the student body during the school year and participate in the hunting activities in the fall Another idea Volley-ba- ll Sugar Ray won again as was expected by the betting men and as was expected
