New Block ‘C’ ‘SWEETHEART BALL’ SET FOR FEB Club Plans Coming Agenda The Block “C" club newly organized college club under the direction of Norman Aplanalp has an active agenda for the rest of the year The club was started last year but this year its constitution was accepted by the club and student body Taking over the job of advertising all college activities has been their main job They have a banner downtown that advertises all college events They plan to put up three bill boards on the roads into Price next year A box card has been slated for March 28 under the direction of the club It is hoped that enough proceeds will be made on the fights to pay for the football jackets which will be here very soon They arc campaigning all over Utah for outstanding athletes who will be offered scholarships to Carbon College Other officers include Gaayle Shoro Prince Budo treasurer Henry Rachele secretary Joe Marvish sergeant-at-arand W W Gross advisor vice-presid- ent ms Carbonite Returns Home from DAR Patsy Burdick participated in the D A R Pilgrimage contest held in Salt Lake City last Saturday Although she didn't win Patsy reports that she gained many other things of value Accompanied by Mrs Jones she attended a luncheon Saturday where she met the other five contestants and the D A R representatives The girls were made to feel very much at home and were given time to become acquainted and to get over their nervousness before the actual contest began Top honors were taken by Cor-riJones of Ogden ne Once again the season of sweethearts rolls around and true to tradition the Senators of Carbon are busily enagged in preparations for the annual Sweetheart Ball The Sweetheart Ball has been an eagerly-awaitevent in the Carbonite lives for many years and this year's affair promises to come up to if not surpars the prert vious standards of one of the formal dances of the year Set for St Valentine's Day Monday February the 14th the ball shows promise of having a large crowd if ticket sales are any indication Tickets will be sold at the door Just about the oldest tradition at Carbon the Sweetheart Ball always falls near Valentine’s Day usually has a large crowd is traditionally decorated in the theme of the February sweetheart season and is considered the most romantic dance of the school year Also traditional is the club's selection and sponsoring of “Sweetheart" candidates to reign over the gala affair The lucky girl winning this coveted honor receives a lovely gift when she is announced as “Sweetheart" dur ed big-ge- BERTIE LOU YOUNG Carbon College Pupil Gains 4-- H Eligibility Freshman Bertie Lou Young has been chosen as one of the Carbon County applicants for the National Farm Youth Exchange Project for 1049 She was selected after a careful study of her H records by County Agent Robert L Hassell The candidate chosen for the National Youth DINOS COME BACK Exchange Program will be sent WITH DOUBLE WINS to Europe Morgan of the citizenship committee has recommended these following articles to the Board of Education to be incorporated into the grading system of the Carbon Senior High School: 1 That citizenship be used as a basis for grading in the classroom apart from scholarship 2 That this conduct grade become a permanent part of the records of the school 3 That during the junior year unfavorable
