Pat was bom October 10, 1931 in Cedar City to Gustive O. & Virginia Bean Larson. She married Elroy Nelson on June 17, 1954 in Salt Lake City. Pat was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She attended BAC in Cedar ‘City and graduated in 1954 from the University of Utah with a Bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Pat had a deep love for all the young people in the community. As an elementary and special ed teacher, |] she touched many young lives, patiently and lovingly meeting the special needs of each young person she instructed. Always one to accept a challenge, she was able to give the gift of knowledge to many students with behavior who had previously been written off as a lost soul. Pat was actively involved in the community having served on the Hospital board, Democratic Committee Chairman, Member of BPW, City and County Library Board and director of | Governor’s Conference on Volunteerism. : An accomplished pianist, she freely presented this talent as a gift to the entire community. Junior proms, high school graduations, road shows, funerals and weddings all became beautiful memories for many because of her desire to share her talents. Funeral services were held and Grandpa LaVon Louis Griffiths died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Minersville May 5, 1998. Born May 26, (David) Vegas. He was preceded in death by brothers, Reginald, John and Richard Our Beloved Dad (Keith) Delta. Eight and six great Brothers, Harold (Sharon) of Minersville, David (Merlene) of Hurricane, and Robert (Athea) of Boron, California. Sisters, Evelyn (Keith) Warby of Beaver, La Von Louis Griffiths Husband, and Laurie Nevada. They celebrated 50 years together on May 26, 1997. He graduated from Beaver High School in 1936. He was Salutatorian of his class and received a double promotion in the 4th grade. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army Infantry in Italy and North Africa. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad in the water service department for 42 years retiring in 1979. Von loved to play the piano and sing and was very musical, playing different instruments by ear. He was an avid hunter & fisherman and was a great gardener. He was a devoted family man and loved his wife very much. He was the bed Dad & Grandpa in the world. He worked hard to give us the best. He was very good with his hands and able to repair anything that broke. He was a self-made man and very independent. He worked hard and was honest with his fellow man. He was a good neighbor and had a very tender heart. Dad loved family gatherings and having everybody come home.
