Show NOVEMBER Beaver County Monitor 14, 1996 MHS Wall of Fame ~ Betty has received several awards and recognitions including Woman of Achievement for Washington County in 1991, National Association of Home Care Board member in 1994, and member of the Southern Utah University Old Main Society in 1995. Betty is a faculty member for the Weber State University Nursing Program. In 1996, she was nominated to the position of president of the Utah Association of Home Health Care Agencies. Betty is the daughter of the late ETE of Utah where he graduated with distinction with a masters degree in meteorology in 1966. Vaughn's graduate thesis was published in the International Journal of Pure and Applied Geophysics. Subsequently he was assigned to various locations throughout the United States and the world. Vaughn is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He received several decorations including the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Gallantry Cross, and many other awards and decorations including the USAF Zimmerman Award for exceptional achievement in Milford, they have four children military operations planning. and ten grandchildren. Betty finished her associate degree with RN at Weber State University in 1982. She subsequently specialized in surgical nursing as a private scrub nurse for a general vascular surgeon. In 1984, she began her home health career as a field nurse. She was later promoted to director of nursing and then to administrator. As she continued to pursue her home health career, she rose to the position of director of operations over a fourstate home health company in 1988. At that point, she was supervising over 200 health care providers. In 1990, Betty, her husband, Vaughn, and the late Dr. Garth Last of Hurricane formed Southern Utah Home Care. Located in St. George, the company continued to expand in southern Nevada and northern Arizona.
