Moore, Circle Four Farms engineer and prospective future resident, would like to play a little golf. Specifically, hie would like to play a 9-hole course.....in Milford... .right now! Tuesday evening, Moore presented a preporal to the city council to do just that. He proposes deeding back the land previously donated by Russel Mayer, and accepting land north of 900 South, owned by Advance Development. The Course of True Love By Norman Baxter: The Good Old Days! As a six year old, I could never see anything romantic about a buggy. There you sit, four or five feet from the active end of a horse. And believe me, anything a horse can do standing In return, the city would agree to annex property adjacent to the course, also owned by A.D., for subdivi- sion and development purposes. A.D. also agreed to construct the 9th hole, to be located near a future clubhouse on 900 South. Since there is no money in the city coffers for the project, Moore has been doing a little speculative dealing. Richard Henrie has agreed to donate the necessary earthwork in return for a building lot on the course. Dick Rollins will donate installation of irrigation facilities - labor only, pipe not includ_ ed. Wolfgang Volker will donate poly liner for the water hazards. Moore is throwing in the engineering and design services plus grant writing and con- ~ still, lay slip to erect the eight grain struction administration services for a lot on the stora course, where he plans to build a future home. The Men’s and Women’s Associations will finish shaping and do seedbed preparation. Obviously, irrigation materials, complete with a $20,000. plus or minus booster pump station and hydro seeding of greens, aren’t free. Whether it is called grant writing or begging, Moore: has a list of companies and individuals he expects. to be able to persuade that the golf course is bene'ficial. A rock shop with local geology information and maybe tourist packages is likely to draw clientele. Then there are the conveniences - things like a laundromat with a bigggg washer for quilts and rugs; convenience goods, a barber shop, a full-time dentist and an eye doctor. the absentee land owners. Our buggy didn’t have anything like that, or any other buggy that I knew of. You just sat there and took whatever the horse had for you. They say that “True Love” can overcome all obstacles!
