Show Mittors Monitor PAGE 3 FEBRUARY 9, 1996 NEW BEAVER DISTRICT RANGER Fishlake National Forest Supervisor Rob Mrowka welcomes Dayle R. Flanigan to the position of Beaver District Ranger. Flanigan came to the Fishlake from Austin Nevada where he has worked for the Toiyabe National Forest since 1988. Dayle began his career with the Forest Service on the Teasdale Ranger District of the Dixie National. Forest. He and his wife Kathy lived in the Aquarius Guard Station on the Aquarius Plateau during the summers of 1978-1981 while working as a Range Technicion. The winters were spent in school at Southern Utah University and then Utah’ State University where Dayle earned a bachelor's degree in Range Science. . Flanigan's first permanent assignment was with the Tonto National Forest in Globe Arizona. o Where Dayle Flanigan, Beaver District Ranger they enjoyed the opportunity to work and live in the’ Tiger Sports - Sonoran Desert. His experiences in Rangeland Management in Arizona lead them to Central Nevada. What Flanigan is most proud of in his career is the opportunities he has had to work with miners, ) ranchers and local citizens in collaborative groups and continue to produce positive results on the land ~ Es By Steven Erickson and at the same time meet the wants of those who use the land, while all around significant conflict and Boys Basketball disagreement surrounded management of public land. Dayle and Kathy have two sons, Seth 15 and Jake 12. They are all very excited to be in Beaver ‘and look forward to the opportunities the schools and local area provide. They all enjoy skiing, On Friday February 2, 1996 the Tigers played host to the Bryce Valley Mustangs in one of the most exciting games of the season. This game started out close and went back and forth throughout the first quarter, but by halftime Bryce Valley had built a 34-24 lead. Milford came back in the third quarter and cut the lead to 2¢ points before Bryce Valley built it back up to 9 points at the end of the third quarter. Milford played tough in the forth quarter outscoring Bryce Valley 23-14 to tie the game at 62 with 4 seconds remaining. hunting, fishing, and exploring on horse back. Kathy has developed several skills while moving to different locations. She is presently teaching skiing at Elk Meadows and is working with the School District to provide assitance with substitute teaching and bus driving. Don't be suprised to see her on several different young horses. Dayle, Kathy, Seth and Jake would all like to say thank you to Beaver County for the great hospitality and welcome they have already received = Michael Barnes' shot rimmed out and the ra game went into overtime. During the next four minutes, both teams matched point for point; playing with everything they had. Despite cheers of the Tiger crowd, Bryce é Valley scored in the final minute to win 7270. Russell Barnes led Milford in scoring with 24 points followed by Michael Barnes with 15 points. The Tigers next home game will be Saturday February 10 vs. Valley. = 6a. ; \ 3 A State Wrestling On Friday, February 2, and Saturday, February 3, 1996, the Tiger wrestlers competed in the state tournament at SUU. Girls Basketball Chalys Lamb and Angel Howard the team’s only two departing seniors ~ were honored before their last home game, January 21. On Wednesday January 31, 1996 the girls basketball team traveled to Beaver to play the Beaver freshman team in their final game of the season. The girls played. tough throughout the entire game, keeping a competitive score but, despite a valiant effort, Beaver claimed the 35-34 victory. — A few weeks earlier, when the arch-: tival teams met at MHS, Milford won by. one point, in what Coach Cathy Palmer described as a “sweet victory.” “They are a young team, and have improved tremendously in this first year,” she added. For the girls and the coaches it has been fun! Congratulations to Coach Langston, Coach Palmer and all the girls for an excellent first year!!! The girls basketball team would like to extend a great thank you to all of the community, faculty members, and studentbody who came and supported us this season. we really had a fun and exciting first year and we hope the years to come will be even better.
