I believe my source to have been reliable, so I will tell it as it was told to me, 50 years ago, by a lifelong resident of the Beaver - Milford area... Jim Lang. In 1896 when Utah gained statehood, it was necessary for many property owners to re-file on their claims. A group of Frisco miners decided to "jump" some of these claims at Minersville. Traveling by wagon, buggy and horse back, they arrived just west of Minersville only to be met by a large group of armed residents. A gun battle erupted, resulting i in the death of one miner. He was buried on the spot. Regrouping, the miners decided to by-pass Minersville and go on to the Beaver area. Just west of Beaver they were again met by fore-warned and armed residents. In that gun battle, two miners were killed and buried there. Date for EAS to go into effect has not been set by the Public Service Commission. Harrison said this would be completed by the end of February at the very latest.
