We refer to female representation on the board of education. For some reason or other, it has become a tradition that the board of education is a man's domain. We firmly believe that a school board can be strengthened with mixed representation. Women by nature, training and instinct observe things that men miss com pletely. Their closer attachment to children in the home gives them a better understanding of child problems in school, and usually they delve into problems more searchlngly and thoroughly than men ever do. These charac terisiics certainly would be val uabl on any school board. We don't know why it should be so, but women seem to take a much keener interest in school affairs than mm do. Mothers are far more frequent visitors in the school than men, and if you are not satisfied, make a survey of n or womenmake a Parent-Teachorganisation tick. There are a number of women in this community who would make excellent members of a board of education. For one thing, there are many women in the communityfar more than men who have had teaching experience. Some of these women have much they could contribute to th development of policies for the operation of a successful school system. We'd like to ie some of the good mothers come forward when it is time for filing for the Granite School Board position. Wa have not written the above in any manner to reflect upon the fine work that has been done by any board member, particularly. g O. K. Fothering ham.
