Our youth is in a quandry as to why wc have wars. What are they all about? We can trace the scars of endless days and nights nni the face of the older One reads the tragic experience of the who saw friends and buddies go down on the shell torn fields believ. . . who sat in shell holes expecting any moment to be his last . . , ing and expecting anything to happen. Many thousands of our youth lie in that everlasting sleep beneath the sod in Europe. That was the World War. Thousands of our veterans have been bedridden since that memorial dayof 20 years ago. Thousands more are crippled and maimed and are struggling to hold their grip on this life, which is so sweet to all. Saturday, the veterans will give way in our daily papers to more war news, but as for the veterans . . . well, memories linger on. May these veterans remind us that the horrors of war are too great a price to pay for the ambitions of men and nations. |
