Four peace officers and several civilians were injured in the melee which took place when a number ol relief clients staged a demonstration at relief headquarters in protest over relief allotments. A blanket complaint was signed in City Judge A. H. Elletts court Thursday charging nine men with narticipating in a riot. In addition to the eight held in jail, the complaint names one Smith, whom officers said walked away from the scene of the demonstration during ths excitement. State relief officials moved shortly after the demonstration to increase budgets of those receiving direct relief, it was reported.
