TRADE IN YOUR 20 GLASS WARE enjoyed. Sunday, May 19th Throughout the entire country, the press is in arms regarding the large number of crimes committed by men on parole. Many people condemn parole boards and parole systems, others go even farther, advocating elimination of parole entirely. The power of the press in froming public opinion is well known. Politicians recognized this power and are careful to see that they controlled the newspapers behind them. The voice of the press in our own country is supposed to be a free and unfettered one. We all consider a free press one of the prime necessities of government in a democracy such as ours. Thus far everything seems to be in favor of the press. The question arises however as to just where this liberty ends and license begins. A further question arises as to whether or not the press itself is not far more responsible for the member of crimes committed than all the parole boards in the country. Does the press ever stop to consider that their own selfishness in their grasping attempts, to sell a few extra papers by featuring crime, showing photographs of the dead and the injured, the robbed and the raped with front page headlines and full sheets devoted to crime. If the children of our country have before them the glamor and notoriety of .constantly displayed rime, so many of them find themselves in penal institutions. Parole boards can hardly be expected to be infalible in their estimation of a man. In the majority of cases, and contrary to the impression created, the parole board is right.
