MR Wednesday, June 26, 1974 3 PARK CITY Page 5 CITY BREFS MERCHANTS PARTY The cocktail party held Thursday, June 20th, by the Park City Merchants Association netted approximately $1,250. The money will be supplemented ty additional contributions and money the Association had collected previously, and the total will reach the Merchants goal of $1,700. The $1,700 will be matched by the Greater Park City Company. This $3,400 will, in turn; be matched by Mountainlands, to bring the combined amount to $6,800. The money will be utilized to promote summer and fall tourism in Park City, primarily by means of billboard and radio advertising. The Merchants Association wishes to thank all merchants for their contributions and cooperation. Special praise was given to Mr. Don Millicam of the host Car 19. Not only did the Car 19 donate its facilities, but also provided entertainment, bartenders, and snacks. Contributing businesses include Car 19, Imperial Antiques, First Security Bank, Just Rings, Dollys, Toy Stop, Fudge Kitchen, Rosies Delicatessen, Jennifer Giddings Sharp, Purple Mushroom, Miners Delight, Mother Lode, Claimjumper Hotel and Restaurant, Turners Art Shop, Blooms, Iron Hollow, Forty Niner, Rock and Silver, Cest Bon, Park City Opera House, Rain Forest, Days Market, Antique and Floral Silver King Bank, and Park City Coalition . set-up- s, FIRE! At approximately 12:30 AM on Wednesday, June 19th, a fire was reported at the Claimjumper Condominiums. The Park City Fire Department extinguished the blaze at the construction site which is located between the Homestake Condominiums and the Mount Air Market. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and no estimate of damage was available. MERCHANTS FIRE JOHN PR1NE AND It AMBLIN JACK ELLIOTT John Prine and Ramblin Jack Elliott will appear at the Park City Opera House on July 12th. Presented by Rocky Mountain Productions, they will perform two shows, one at 8 PM and one at 10 PM. This performance will be the first in a series of concerts which will tour Western ski areas. Future performers include Tracy Nelson, Mother Earth, Doug Kershaw, and Jerry Jeff Walker. The tour encompasses Aspen, Vail, Breckenridge, Steamboat Springs, Telluride, Crested Butte, and Park City. Advance tickets cost $4 and can be purchased at the Club. PARKING LOT GONDOLA AND MINE TRAIN RUNNING After delays for maintenance, the Resorts gondola and mine train are operating on a fulltime basis. The over and under rides began transporting passengers on Saturday, June 22nd. Hours for the gondola are 11 AM until 6 PM daily, while the mine train departs at 11 AM, 1 PM, 3 PM, and 4:30 PM. LOTS FILLED IN The lots on Main Street that were involved in the August 1973 fire are being filled in. According to Glenn Smith, Park City Building Inspector, they will be used for parking. |
