Show Wednesday, March 27, 1974 Poge 9 SLC Departure Schedule Sheila and Judy of Iron Hollow Sheila ' Ivers, as . It was a different arrangement then, for Judy was the instructor and Sheila the student. They became good friends in Denver, y and while on ski outings on the weekends, thev realized more and more that they wanted to be in the mountains permanently. They looked around at various ski towns that weren't exceptionally developed and eventually settled on Park City. A major point in favor of Park City was the fact that it didn't have a jewelry store. So on August 17. 1973, Iron Hollow was born. a businesswoman, is relatively new to Park City. However, her roots in Utah, and Park City in particular, go all the way back to her grandfather. James Ivers, and to her uncle, Mike Ivers. Sheila was born and raised in Utah, and then moved around the country a little. with a stop at St. Louis University where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Biology with an option for nursing. After graduating, she worked in Louisiana for a while, and then moved back to Salt Lake City for two years, where she worked at Holy Cross Hospital. Sheila ended up in Denver where she was instrumental in setting up a series of homes for battered children: homes for children whose parents had maltreated them. She was also active in a drug rehabilitation home that aided young people from the ages of fifteen to twenty. During her summers. Sheila would leave Denver to help set up a public clinic in a small town about sixty miles northwest of Santa Fe. The reason for the clinic was the fact that there was not a doctor or a nurse for a 2000 square mile area! Judy Sharpe is from the opposite end of the States from her partner Sheila. Judy was born in. believe it or not, a small ski town in the Pocono Mountains. Pennsylvania. She later moved to the Philadelphia area, and attended the Tyler College of Art, a division of Temple University. From Tyler she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in jewelry, a field in which Tyler is well respected. After graduating from Tyler. Judy went to work for a manufacturing jew eler in Philadelphia for several years. She took what she had learned in school and synthesized it with what she learned from the manufacturer, in order to form a feasible way of a making living withoutdoing just production jewelry and manufactured type settings and mountings. " From Philadelphia. Judy moved to Denver and opened a jewelry store and also started teaching small jewelry classes. The Iron Hollow Jewelers were originally formed in Denver, for it was there that Sheila met Judy. cross-countr- pre-existi- ng The work sometimes varies greatly from their normal repertoire ol casting', etching, and for Judy once fixed a pier-cewor- k. trombone! seems to metal and They have lessons in Their philosophy anything thats smaller than a car. also continued giving jewelry making with classes both for the beginner and the advanced student .
