They can ski purely for recreation or they can enjoy the excitement and challenge of competition. Stein spent several hours just skiing with the students. Then, after lunch, he supervised the Mini and Maxi Ski Races. For the non- skiing . children the resort provided a gondola ride to the Summit House. The spirit of the day was evident as the children cheered their classmates who received trophies, ribbons, sweaters, ski poles, and other gifts. In the true meaning of sportmanship, Stein told the children that they should not feel bad if they did not receive an award, but to say to themselves, Ill be back next year. Park City is fortunate to have a Director of Skiing like Stein. He gave a full day of energy to the children. He encouraged each child with a smile and warm word at every opportunity. A special prize should be given to the many people who made the experience possible for the youngsters. The resort provided lift tickets, gondola rides, snow sculpturing, and lunch. The Kiwanis Club donated the prize ribbons. Marsac School provided the trophies. Steins and Wolfes Ski Shops donated the many gifts. And, special recognition also goes to the more than thirty enthusiastic parents organized by Amanda Peterson who gave their time and help.
