The Miners had little difficulty defeating an overmatched Wendover team. Led by the rebounding and scoring of Brian Andrus, who registered 24 points, Park City simply overwhelmed the Wildcats, winning the game by 36 points. The contest was all even, at the 5:25 mark of the first quarter but the Miners then proceeded to 14 straight points and were never threatened for the remainder of the game. The Miners were just too quick and too strong on the 64-6- 4-- 4, backboards. Especially pressive was Park Citys ability s to score repeatedly on made possible by precise passing. Greg Goff, a 59 Senior im- lay-up- who is capable of dunking the ball, was on the scoring end of a string of fast breaks. n Bothered by a tight rt defense and at times a press, the Wildcats committed numerous turnovers and were unable to get inside for the high percentage shot. His squad is composed almost entirely of Freshmen. Thus, he is optimistically predicting much stronger showings in the coming years. This optimism seems because in a Junior High tournament involving the same schools as those in the regional tournament, Paris City took six first places and won the meet. The result was a 6 halftime score in favor of the Wildcats. The Mini Miners could not penetrate against Wendovers n defense and turned the ball over generously. The inexperienced play of the young starters was certainly no reflection on the teams ability, as was manifest in the second half. Inserting his regular starting five, Coach Blackham sat back and watched his charges employ a press and a running game to take a 0 third quarter lead. Largely responsibe for this surge was the scoring of Pat Pirraglio who accounted for 24 of the Miners 77 point total. With the game well in hand, the younger Park City players were given additional game experience and held on to a 8 victory.
