Show Newspaper is time of Mark Twain. On page 5 of the May 19, 1961 issue in a section titled Pages From the Past we chose this delightful item. the Fastest Gun in the West For the last three weeks the column was conreview cerned with books. This week we would like to tell a little about one of the most unusual newspaper in the United States. FIRST CONFIDENCE MEN OF SEASON SEEN ON C STREET reads the banner crossing the top of the page. A subhead of the same story reads; Annual Influx of Grift-er- s, Sharpers, Phoney Prospectors, Gyp Salesmen, Big Operators Has Begun. The first headline we mentioned all the letters were shadow boxed. Almost all headlines are styled from the time of Mark Twain who was, incidentally, then involved with the paper. May 19, 1891 ASSAULTED WITH AN AXE Mrs. James Gilmore last The front page banner proclaims this paper to be the ENTERPRISE TERRITORIAL and depicts, in excellent art, the stage coach era and the western town of saloons, with everyone wearing a side arm. Underneath the name are two oval frames in which repose the pictures of Dan De Quill and Mark Twain. The Masthead inside the paper, where one can find out who the publisher and editor might be, bears the proud statement that the TERRITORIAL ENTERPRISE is Nevadas first newspaper, established in 1858. The esthetic effect of the paper, the manner in which the stories are written attest to the fact that the paper has the flavor now it did back in the evening swore out a complaint against her husband charging him with intent to kill. James had been out of jail but a few hours after serving 75 days in the County Jail when he committed the assault. He struck his wife in the mouth with an axe, inflicting injuries. Mrs. Gilmore runs a tough place on South C Street. It is constantly under the sur-veila- of officers, who Legal Notices Probate-Guardiansh- ip Third Judicial District Court Probate Division for further information of the respective signers consult County Clerk.
