Very truly yours, W. Sterling Evans Many of the people who come to our office to fill out applications for passports were not previously aware that the Clerks Office has now taken over this function. The passport applications were formerly taken care of by the Federal Court in the Post Office Building and in many cases people have gone to the federal court or even to travel agencies to find out just where passport applications are being handled. In order to advise the public as to where they should go for passport application, will you pease let them know these applications are now being accepted in the County Clerks Office on the second floor of the Courts Building, 240 East Fourth South, Salt Lake City, Utah. Editors Note: The South Dear Burned: With all the troubles in this world, it never ceases to amaze me that parents blow their cool over hair. Your Dads mad at the hairy rebeQs he sees rioting on TV. But not all long hairs are rioters. Many are fine citizens. Why dont you see if you can get your Dad to join you in extending your s i d e b u r n growth. When youre watching TV together point out some of the men he admires who have adopted a slightly fuller hair style. If you arent successful in this soft approach to your probem, Id suggest you drop it and work as hard as you can on your studies. You could win a scholarship to a college in another town. Salt Lake News is pleased to announce that Michael Palindrome has joined the staff. Are you bugged by someone or something? Do you need to share some problem? Ask Miks He will attempt to give you the straight scoop. Questions of general interest will be answered in this paper each week. Write to Mike at The South Salt Lake News, 3106 So. Main St., Salt Lake City, Utah 84115. Dear Mike: I am a high school student. My grades- are good and Im in activities as well. My parents have always trusted my judgment in the past, and, Mike, Ive never let them down. Im not a hippy or anything like that, but I would like to let my sideburns grow just a little fuller and longer. My Dad wont even discuss the subject. He says he'd tie me up and shave me if he had to. What do you say, - extra-curricul- ar Mike? Burned Dear Mike: My husband week . . . works a period. When he leaves the office he is definitely through working. I have five children 40-ho- ur to care for and a large home-Mhusband will not turn a hand to do anything around our home. He wont so much as take out the garbage. What y can I do? Bushed Dear Bushed: When you have a minute could you mow my lawn? Seriously, I believe your husband should at least do one or two minor tasks around the home if for no reason than to set a good example for those five kids. Whatever you do, dont play the martyr. Once you cast yourself in that role, both your husband and your children are likey to let you remain in it for good. Try instead to enlist his help in seeing that the children learn to be helpful around the house. Dear Mike: My mother-in- - law must be at least a Hundred pounds overweight. She claims it glands or low metabolism. Id sure hate to see my wife end up like her mother, what are the chances that this tendency to gain weight runs in ther family? Traid of Fat Dear Fraid: The most common cause of overweight is overeating. A mother with a weight problem can pass her poor food habits on to her children. Quite innocently she can lead them to prefer rich, sweet foods to a more nourishing and balanced diet. If you are genuinely concerned about this problem, ask your fampy doctor to give you information on proper nutrition for your, family. As for your mother-in-laher excess weight is her problem, not yours. Dont become involved in it. Dear Mike: Can you recommend a really different family vacation? We have three w, children, aged 11, 12 and 14. Been Everywhere Dear Been: How lucky can you be? If you dont own camping equipment, rent some and head for the less frequented spots in the West. While you are enjoying the glories of the great outdoors, get your family to join the fight to improve our natural environment. When you camp see who can do the best job of cleaning up the camp area. Keep count of the number of trash containers you can fill with litter. Ill bet youll be suprised. Your whole family can share in the good feeling youll have at leaving America more beautiful than you found it. This column of questions and answers on federal tax matters is provided by the local office of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service and is published as a public service to taxpayers. The column answers questions most frequently asked by taxpayers. Q) Will I get a reminder no-- : tice on my June estimated tax payment? A) Yes, the IRS will send reminder notices on the second installment due June 15, to all those who received estimated income tax forms earlier this year. This voucher identifies the payment since it carries the taxpayers name, address and Social Security number. For your convenience, envelopes addressed to the service center were provided in the 1040-E- S package. full-tim- r Q) Where should I write about a delayed refund?
