"I seek this office because I believe a change is needed and because I feel that my experience in business and in working with people will help me to lead the people of this State to government they can be proud of - government which will serve them with integrity, economy, and efficiency. "I have made this decision alter long and careful consideration of the responsibilities of the office and of .the campaign. The many expressions of encouragement and support that I have received in the past weeks have been gratifying. I pledge to these people and to all of the people of the State of Utah that, if nominated, Twill campaign vigorously to insure my election to this office and to insure also the election of Republicans to all levels of government throughout the State.'1 Mr. Buehner is best known throughout Utah for his activity in business, work with young people, and in his church and civic affairs. He entered business in the Salt Lake area with the Buehner Block Company and as a building contractor. He is currently the President and a Director of the Beehive State Bank; President of the Buehner Block Company; Secretary and Treasurer of the Otto Buehner Company; Vice President and Director of the Brookfield Products Company; Chairman of the Board, and Director of the Mineral Fertilizer Company of Olympia, Washington; Vice President and Director of the Beehive Machinery Company; officer and Director of Beehive Poultry; and President of the Beacon Metals Corporation. In his activity with the youth of Utah, Mr. Buehner for the past five years has served as the President of the Great Salt Lake Council of the Boy Scouts of America. For six years he was a member of the General Superintendency of the Mutual Improvement Association oftheLDS Church. His other Church activities include a member of the presiding Bishopric for ten vears and his cur. rent assignment as the Cottonwood of the Regional Representative Council of 12 Apostles of the LDS Church.
