His soul flies it high, and bright, And calls to the world to come to its light And never in all the long ages of time Was the world more in need of the truth sublime. Our one truth' is that the economic system under which people are struggling to exist today has served its time and will shortly pass away. The system actually is destroying itself Its two off shoots, Communism and Fascism, are at dea'h grips and will simply wipe each other off the map in every nation. Thus will the way be paved for the perfect system which will be the answer to all men's dreams and hopes. It will be a ystem that will make centralized wealth and poverty and war impossible, and under which every man, woman and child will be guaranteed an equal share of the basic products jof mother earth ; a ith no rich and no poor; with equality, seeurity, justice and peace established never more to pass away; a system under which man will at last find his soul and redeem it from all the bondage which bas kept it submerged; a system under whose truth man shall attain the ideal freedom, and become as the Psalmist says he was meant to become, ''But little lover than the angels Then shall the soul's desert places rejoice and the universal heart be glad. (Micah 4:4.) Since it is the Lords plan to give every man an inheritance, surely the very least that man himself asn do is to msk it feasibly and reasonably possible for men to acquire a home, with farm land, too, if desired. . Why did the early settlers of Utah forge ahead so definitely and greatly, making the desert blossom as the rose, despite an indifferent and, indeed, often adverse and hostile environment? Because each family possessed a holding or inheritance. Why are the residents of Utah not making satisfactory progress today? Because they have lost their homes and farms and, under present arrangements, they cannot expand because of galling difficulties, often including mounting indebtedness. It is not incontrovertibly evident that a program where the land is restored to the people will alone make human security and progress again possible? Also, interest in connection with money should be abolished, even by special enactment, if necessary, This would mean that banks would cease to operate for private gain and would function as instruments to finance the purchase of inheritances for the people. State taxation should be based solely and only on the surplus of the people. (See Numbers 18:30.) In terms of modem society and conditions, this best involves, probably, an extended graduated state income tax. Instead of the present land tax, the farmers might be taxed according to their production in relation to the total sales value of their products in relation to the market price.
