Wedemeyer Urges New Political Party By Arthur 1Yatson From the New York Sunday News January 18 1959 June, 1959 American General Albert C. Wedemeyer, patriot, outstanding world war leader, and member of For America's National Policy Committee, in a succession of penetrating speeches at Houston on May 13 under sponsorship of Texans For America and other patriotic; groups, pointed out that there is no essential difference between the two branches of the international socialist party known as Republicans and Democrats, and suggested a new party dedicated to American principles and interests. ' pre-emine- nt In appearances before hundreds of businessmen at a Kiwanis luncheon and at the Music Hall in the evening, before a warmly enthusiastic audience brought together by Texans For America, Lifeline, the Coalition of Patriotic Societies, Veterans, and the Constitution Party, General Wedemeyer left no doubt as to where he stood on basic American issues. Besides these appearances, he put in a full day at a special press, radio and television interview, 'thus reaching out to aii audience of more than a million people in the Houston-Coastarea. Key observations follow: NATO is good for the countries of Western Europe, but we. should not be an active member. Nato is unrealistically formed. . . . It is apparent that our allies are not doing their share in the fight against communism. The United States should withdraw its foreign aid . . . Charity undermines the moral fiber of a nation just as it does of an individual. The Marshall Plan was intended to restore nations to a healthy economy. Now, ten years later, we .have already spent $70 billion, and this year we are appropriating $3.9 billion more. Question: 'Why are we losing the Cold War? Gen. Wedemeyer Because we have no clearly defined national objectives, and because we permit the USSR to bluff us continually. (Continued on page 4, col. 4) India-China-Bur- al gjaeftlleg Evaluation of. Commy Threat (Reprinted from FBI Law . Enforcement Bulletin, Feb. 1958) One year ago this nionth, the Communist Party of the United States at its 16th National Convention at New York City laid down a smokescreen designed to lull the American public into complacency: regain- - public acceptance, thwart further prosecutions of its members, and disable the efforts of Americans fighting communist treachery, the Party sought to foist itself upon the Nation as a ''new and independent political organization, free from Soviet domination. This tactic is indicative of the hypocrisy, perpetrated by these masters of deceit Now as before, the Communist Party of the United States functions as an outlet of the Societ fountainhead of international communism. These traitors in our midst are complete slaves of the Kremlin. To lose sight of these stark realities is to invite national disaster. Already the Red propoganda mills have . beguiled many unthinking people into a false sense of security. The communist cause is indeed well served by these individuals and pseudoliberals engaged in attacking patriotic measures to ex' pose the Red conspiracy. How can the individual American citizen best fight communism? Know this enemy, realize its objectives, recognize its tactics! Communism is a false religion, an evil philosophy which desecrates ' human personality and enslaves the body and soul of the human being. Since September of 1919, the Party (Continued on page 4, col. 5) Iir-orde- r-to I suggest that those of us who believe in decent government and desire to be placed upon an equal basis with those who would destroy our ConstiYour tax dollars were spent to tution, organize a new finance the following: under name. But theres at least a hollow laugh for them: Ironically the lawmakers who proposed the income tax did so to soak the rich. When the federal bite became law back in 1913, none of its proponents dreamed of a day when the tax would dip into the pocket of the average wage earner. It was, they said, simply a democratic means of distributing the wealth in fora day of tremendous, tax-fre- e tunes. To the working man, whose yearly income was considerably less than $1,000 a year, the income tax was something for the well-oto virwere rates about. Its worry on intually painless only 1 comes over $3,000 for the single and $4,000 for the married. ff The 16th Amendment wa created by the people aa Dr. Frankenstein created '"hismonstor. Secrecy Cloaks Foreign Aid Secrecy Cloaks Foreign Aid Program Why have the American people been kept uninformed regarding where $70 billion of their hard-earne- d tax dollars have gone in the past 10 years under the Foreign Aid program? Even members of Congress cannot obtain the full facts and figures! The promoters of Foreign Aid in years past, tried to sell the American public on the idea that the purpose of Foreign Aid was to preserve the Free World against World Communism. However, this "phony sales line has now been completely exposed, because in 1958 the Legislative Reference Service of the Library of Congress revealed the fact that . . . Your Tax Dollars are ' Being Used To Aid Communist Countries During the period July 1, 1945, to June 30, 1957, over $2 billion of your tax dollars were sent to Communist or Communist-dominate- d countries such as Albania, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary; Poland, the Soviet Union, and Yugoslavia! Tito of Yugoslavia, who frequently pledges his loyalty to the Soviet Union, now has the fifth largest an air air force in the world force that can be used against the Free World an air force that was financed by your tax dollars in Foreign Aid. In the 1920s, the income tax had only puppy teeth and relatively few people were badly bitten. Even in 1929, the peak of the predepression boom, a married man with two children and a net income of $5,000 paid only $3 to the government The bite today is $520. The easy $3 tab was possible in those days because it cost far less to run the government In 1929, according to figures dug out by the Tax Foundation, a private research group which keeps a troubled eye (Continued on page 3, col. 3) 2 Thomas Paine couldnt start a revolution if he lived today nobody would print his stuff.
