It is stating an untruth. We approve of the legitimate use of the Fifth Amendment to protect one from being compelled to testify against himself in a criminal proceeding. One haa a right, under our Constitution, to lace the judge and jury and to say, in effect, I am guilty, I know it, and yon inspect it, but you can't prove it and you cant make me help you prove it. That is ones right under the law and the purpose of it is to pretorvent the age-ol-d practice of conconfession and secure ture to viction for crime. Y. The group cited the President and Secretary of Agriculture Benson for their persistence in principle in continuing the national farm polioies. In unanimous action the delegates pointed out that increased agricultural prosperity has drown the wisdom of the Administrations policy of lower support prices and relaxed acreage controls. The group endorsed the objectives of the Senate committee on corrupt practices in labor and management censured the Democrats who have thwarted Republican efforts to secure corrective legislation. They expressed the hope that the opposition would join with the Republican Party to secure for the working man protection against the loss of these rights. Former Arizona Governor Howard Pyle, deputy assistant to President Eisenhower, told the group at the Saturday night banquet that, under Republican leadership the United States has answered the need for a militant foreign policy. Pyle pointed out that since the close of World War II, 20 new nations have emerged as free nations, comprising 13 of the world. He said that the Lebanon action was necessary as we cannot turn down requests from these free nations for help. To do so would shake the faith of all the free nations in the freedom they have espoused. The conference is part of the Young Republican National Federation program. Similar Young Republican conferences have been held throughout the nation for state leaders.
