The year-en- d report showed after-ta- x income to be $257,993 in 1977, compared to $142,394 for the previous year. Sales for 1977 were reported at $1,688,338, against $1,104,069 a year earlier. Fully diluted earnings were $.043 for 1977, compared with $.024 for the previous year based on 6,023,670 shares outstanding for both years. Gov. David Monson. Dan Simons Sr. of Simons and Co. requested the change last month when he realized a realty company was operating with a name nearly identical to the professional organization, Utah Association of Realtors. Simons contacted Monson, who in turn wrote to the company, and the name has been officially changed. The Utah Real Estate Association was chartered by the state this spring and is headed by Joseph and Cecilia Garrison and Howard A. Thoren. Its offices are at 1363 So. Beehive Telephone Company has been granted permission to provide service to a desolate portion of eastern Garfield County. The Public Service Commission granted the request following withdrawal of two other telephone companies applications to serve the area. Beehive requested permission to provide the service to Plateau Resources mine, a uranium operation run by an out of state utility. Both South Central Utah Telephone and Continental Telephone withdrew their applications, saying the project would not be economically feasible. Both had anticipated using microwave systems for transmission of telephone signals. Beehive, on the other will use a current michand, rowave system located at Bullfrog marina and string power lines to the Plateau mining operation. Beehive has operated in Utah since 1967, and currently serves western Box Elder County, Western Tooele County, and portions of Juab and Millard Counties. Plateau will be the only facility in the area requiring telephone service. An ounce of prevention...
