Show August 1975 Utah Farm Bureau News ARM BUREAU ON THE MOVE Policy group researches farm issues Page 3 Summary of services to members House group amends beef checkoff recommendation bill in line with FB policy A recent vote in the U.S. House agriculture committee sent the beef checkoff bill (H.R. 7656) to the floor for later consideration. Just before approving the bill, the group voted 11 to 7 to add an amendment by Rep. Melcher (D., Montana) to allow for prior registration of growers, in line with Farm Bureau policy. By calling for a sign-u- p at least 10 days before the referendum vote, the amendment should help assure that at least 50 percent of registered producers vote, and that at least two-thirof those voting approve of the checkoff.
