Allen Olsen as administrative officer of Farm Bureau addressed the banquet session. Mr. Wallentine will have the title designation "Executive Vice President" as directed by the Board. For the past several years Mr. Wallentine has labored in various capacities with the Iowa Farm Bureau and will return to the Utah Farm Bureau in January. The following are some of his remarks at the Annual Banquet session of the convention. It is good to be coming home folks, back to Utah. Some time ago I had an opportunity to discuss some of my long range goals and asperations with A. V. Smoot. My instructions and counsel at that time was to go get some experience and training and then see if an opportunity might come for me to come back to Utah. Well I went to Iowa and studied under some very able leaders and this night is a culmination of a 10 year goal for me, and the beginning of another goal. Under the direction of your board of directors the personal goal that I would announce to you tonight is to lend every possible effort I can to strengthen the image of agriculture in the state of Utah, and to help build the Utah Farm Bureau into the most effective instrument in the entire state for prosperity in agriculture, for responsibility in government in this state and for a citizenry dedicated to the high principles that have made this nation the great land that it is. Now these are lofty goals, I know that. And I am not presumptious to think that my presence here in Utah is going to make all that much difference, but I am very confident in sharing these goals with you, because I know they are Convention Elects 73 Directors Bureau Board of Directors as presently constituted following the election of officers at the convention November 17. Now I want to tell you about the work institution. Theres a difference between organizations and institutions. Organizations are groups of people getting together to solve problems that alone they probably couldnt handle. Institutions are infinitely more than that, they are organizations, matured, grown up, that have stood the test of time and Farm Bureau has done that. It has stood the test of time. But we have challenges friends, Farm Bureau yesterday is not good enough for today. Farm Bureau of today is not good enough for Farm Bureau of tomorrow. It is not equal to the challenges that are coming down the pike. But we have i C. Booth t , . Wallentine Executive Vice President a good, solid foundation on which to build, with wise leadership, so many of them introduced here tonight, a dedicated membership, and solid principles upon which to build. o ry H CL CC U T --- C Ray Bert Hansen, Stan Jackson, Dixie Jackson and President Elmo Hamilton admire truck awarded by Rick Warner Ford.
