Show THURSDAY, BeehivesWelcomed In Lewiston APMIA Don-cou- Outing The descendants of John, Frank Ravsten and Joseph Christensen spent a delightful afternoon on Saturday in the Clarkston Ward recreation hall. The time was spent in visiting and viewing pictures of the past. A short program included a musical reading by Mrs. Eva Hark, talks by the eldest sons, Byron, Frank and Bennie Ravsten and by Mrs. Elina Peterson, reading by Lennea Rogowski, musical selections on the piano and saxaphone by Anne Sorensen and John Cox. Those attending were M. and Mrs. Frank Ravsten, Heyburn, Idaho; Mrs. James Ravsten and daughter Lennea, Hyrum; and Miss Afton Ravsten, Clarkston; Mr. and Mrs. Byron Ravsten, Clarks-ton- ; Mrs. Betty Thompson, Ogden; Mr. and Mrs. Roy McKee. A pot luck dinner was served. Ben and Deana Bingham is what might be termed a professional cook. Shes kind of new at the job so she might not exactly call herself professional, but she is a cook for the school lunch program at Sky View High School. She and her husband Darwin live in Smithfield with their two children, ages 10 and 11. Deana has been a Den Mother in the Cub Scout program and very much enjoys doing handicrafts with her daughter. She says that cooking at school and cooking at home are worlds apart, but she enjoys doing both and has picked the following recipes to share with our readers. Steak-Potat- o They are the parents of eight children, Inez Godfrey, Leah Ravsten, Farrell Goodey and Clotel Gleason, all of Clarkston, Ramona Halford, Preston, and Shirley Goodey. Garland. Two children passed away. She has been active in the LDS Church and she thoroughly loves deer hunting. She hasn't missed going hunting for over 50 years to Dove Creek. 14 miles past Park Valley. On Sunday she went out to the old rock house in Dove Creek, where they stay, to make sure everything was in order for the coming deer hunting season. Mrs. Sylvia Goodey, a life long resident of Clarkston celebrated her 88th birthday on Tuesday Oct. 8, at her home. Members of her family calling to visit with her during the day were Ramona and Victor Halford, Preston. Debbie Harris and family, Tremonton; Leah and Lester Ravsten and son Joe. Others calling were Anna Thompson, Nancy and Gary Thompson. Mrs. Goodey is the widow of Joseph D. Goodey. They were married in Logan, Qct. 12, 1906, and the marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple, July 29, 1908. B of M pound round steak (cut in 1 cubes and floured) tablespoons shortening small onions, sliced tablespoons flour l'A teaspoons salt 3 medium potatoes, (pared and thinly sliced) U teaspoon pepper dash thyme dash garlic salt 2 cups water paprika salt Heat oven to 350 degrees. Melt shortening, jp, skUlejL, and brown meat. Add dnicui and cook until trader " Pour into ungreased two quart casserole and sprinkle with flour, salt, pepper, thyme and garlic salt. Pour water over mixture. Cover and bake 45 to 60 minutes or until meat is tender. Increase oven temperature to 450 degrees. Arrange potatoes over meat. Sprinkle with salt and paprika. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Here's two dandy dessert ideas. Fruit Cocktail Cake level teaspoons baking soda teaspoon salt Us cups sugar 2 well beaten eggs 1 can (size 303) fruit cocktail with juice 2 cups unsifted flour Mix together all ingredients and pour into pan. Mix Is cup brown sugar, cup nuts and sprinkle over top. Bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes. 2 1 Deana says her family especially likes these sugar cookies because they are soft and not as crisp as regular sugar cookies. She suggests doubling or tripling the recipe because it makes a very small batch. Sugai Cookies Cream together: fe cup butter or shortening 1 cup sugar Blend in: 1 medium or two small eggs Sift together and add to mixture: 4 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons baking powder 2 cups flour Add: i 4 teaspoon vanilla Roll out and cut with cookie cutter. Bake at 400 minutes. Cookies will appear white, degrees for not browned, when done. 8-- r hi. Club Two Trade Vows -- Boyd Marvin Paskett and Minett Carlson Paskett of Salt Lake City, announce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter Karen to Willard White Warren, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Warren of Amalga. The couple was married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Oct. 16. Karen is a graduate of South High School and four year seminary. For the past two years she has been employed at the Beehive Clothing Mills in Salt Lake City. by Anaheim, Calif. Leola and Elmer Wood hosted an open house honoring Major and Mrs. Thomas He is presently employed at the Reed Bently Dairy Farm in Amalga. W. Newton The Smithfield Book of Mormon Club met for their first session of their 1974-7- 5 season Newton Ward Sacrament meeting was held on Sunday Jones eondUCting.'Bishop ,jr The years work was discussed and seeing as they have studied the Book of Mormon through several times, decided to study the New Testament of the Bible. Each member read a poem or article. A pot luck dinner was served to eight members and one guest at the canyon home of Birdie Downs. Present were Birdie Downs. Mr. and Mrs. George Ballard of Cache Junction went by plane to Spain to visit with their son, Brent and his wife, Josie Ballard. They landed at Madrid Oct. 2 and then traveled to Seville, where Mr. and Mrs. Dale Benson of Newton and daughter Sally left for the Hawaian Islands by plane Tuesday to meet their son Jeff Benson who has been serving in the Korean LDS Mission for the past two years. They will be touring the islands for a week or ten days. Newton Literary Club was held at the home of Lois Jones at Cache Junction Thursday afternoon. President Jenny Larson conducted the meeting. Secretary Opal Clarke read the minutes. A book review entitled Jennie by Ralph G. Martin was given by Mrs. Lanny Gunnell of Wellsville. This was enjoyed by everyone. The program was arranged by Kathryn Rasmussen. Special guests were Garnet Cornish of Cove, Mrs. Elise Halfhill of Newton. Mrs. Beatrice Mecham of Logan, sister to Eunice Jones. Mrs. Marsha J. She stated that this should be foremost in their lives. Ruth Rawlings and Mary Ellen Spackman, with piano by Linda accompaniment Pitcher, sang a duet, "Behold Thy Handmaiden." The title of this song was the theme of the program. Bishop M. Boyce Pitcher advised the girls and their parents, who were special guests, to follow the teachings of the church leaders so that they might have real joy. Refreshments were served after the program. Tuesday evening the new Beehive girls were welcomed into the Young Women's program in the Lewiston Second Ward. Carla Van Dyke announced the program numbers. Mrs. Chris (Evonne) Jensen gave a talk on the potentials of young womanhood and the obligations of the young women. Mrs. Martin (Ruth) gave an illustrated lecture on the growth of a young girl.
