The No Fault Information Committee, said it was concerned that many persons still misunderstand the law and the type of insurance coverage required as of January 1. The new law insurance pertains only to bodily injury cases. The law does not provide insurance damage to your own car. If you want protection, you must purchase comprehensive and collision insurance which pays for damage to your car. You are still able to collect from motorists who are at fault and do damage to your car, as property damage doesnt change under this act, it said. No Fault Insurance benefits apply only for injuries received in the state of Utah. However, most insurance companies offer out of state endorsements that give you the coverages required by other states when you travel out of state. If you are involved in an accident outside the state of Utah you must comply with the legal insurance system in effect in that state where the accident occurs. Governments Close to Agreement on 91 1 Emergency Number Governing bodies throughout the Salt Lake Valley are close to agreement on a new system that would allow any citizen to contact his local police or fire department by dialing 911, said Ken Hill, a spokesman for the Mountain Bell. Mr. Hill said that before the 911 system could be adopted all governments will have to cooperate in setting up a central dispatching office. When a call comes into the central office a dispatcher would determine as to whether to send out a unit from Salt Lake County, Sandy City or some other jursidiction. Mr. Hill also said many residents are confused as to what agency to call in an emergency. Some county residents call the Salt Lake City Police and must be transferred to the County dispatcher.
