Show Bicentennial Celebration Starts With Many More Events Planned The Bicentennial has started! Many activities leading up to July 4, 1776, have already seen their 200th anniversaries come and go. (Hie of the most famous events prior to the drafting of the Declaration of Independence, the Boston Tea Party, occurred in December of 1773 and Boston 200, the citys Bicentenninal organization, is conducting a series of Tea Party related activities fall, which will culminate during Tea Party week end, Dec. This will be the first maevent of America's Bicenjor celebration and a full tennial schedule of commemorative festivities and activities is planned. Speaking of the Tea Party and its relevance in this modern era, Boston Mayor Kevin H. White said, "A prime purpose in commemorating the event is to remind people of the principles of government that were enormously important to Bostonians of the 18th century. Although times have changed, these same issues of the role of government and the rights of men still continue on to today." Boston 200, the Office of the Boston Bicentennial, has sought to stimulate an active reconsideration of these issues by a series of forums, lectures and literary and artistic competitions, just as meetings ' and forums in 1773 kindled the spirit for the original Tea Party. the Brig Beaver In mid-fal- l, II, a two masted wooden brig, will sail into Boston Harbor from England and be located close to the original mooring area of the Tea Party ships. But two Utah brothers joined the Army Oct. 29 and as a result of a new enlistment option, they will be promoted to private, which gives them an automatic $37.20 a month raise. Michael and Robert Hogge of Murray, who were enlisted by Sgt. First Class Charles Phillips of the Army Recruiting Station at the Cottonwood Mall, were promoted to privates as a result of a new program the Army offers to enlistees. In this program if an enlistee joins the Army in the Delayed Entry Option, giving him up to six months before he begins active duty, and if during that time he gets three other people to join the Army, he will be promoted to private upon his entrance on active duty. We went to places where people meet and talked to them on joining the Army," said Robert. Besides enlisting two other people, Robert also enlisted his brother, Mike. Mike then turned around and enlisted three other people. Both Mike and Robert joined the Army for the three year Combat Arms program and will be stationed with the 9th Infantry Division at Fort Lewis. They will both attend basic training brig is a replica of the smallest of the three ships involved in the original Tea Party. Privately developed and financed as an educational and historical exhibit, Beaver II is the first Bicentennial exhibit to be recognized by Boston 200. The total exhibit will include a museum and a gift shop, which will be located in a former bridgekeep-cr- s house adjacent to the moorsite. ing The Tea Party posetrs, prizewinners from two contests, one city wide and one nationwide, will be exhibited. The U.S. Cus-to- f House at Boston will be dedi-caet- d as an historic building. At historic Faneuil Hall, a forum will be held on the significance of the Boston Tea Party followed by a reception for forum speakers and winners of a Tea Party Essay Contest held in the fall for Boston area junior and senior high school students. From October, 1973 to May, 1974, the Museum of the American China Trade, together with the Massachusetts Horticultural Society will present an exhibit of the teas of China, with emphasis on the importance of tea to the U.S. economy. Wood flooring 5000 years old has been found intact in an Egyptian tomb. It seldom or never became wet; hence fungi never had a chance. Beamingly yours. The spirit for holidays past and present. Has Purpose Besides providing a recrea- tional opportunity to hunt, the Utah moose hunt is part of the Division of Wildlife Resources continuing effort to provide better hunting without injuring the resource. By attempting to widen ratio to nearly 1 the cow-bu- ll bull to 4 cows, more producing animals can be kept on a range. Division biologists are trying to determine whether the 1 bull to 4 cows ratio affects moose calf production. At this point, it appears to have no adverse effect. Other big game species have a wider ratio than 1:4 with no effect on production. Prior to the 1973 season, there were 38 bulls per 100 cows. This year the Ogden River unit which included the Cache forest, had a harvest of four bulls from the five permits issued for 80 per cent success. The Bear River Hole in the Rock unit reported 45 bulls harvested by 98 hunters afield for 46 per cent success. Two permit holders didnt hunt. The first sanctioned moose hunt in Utah was held in 1958 when ten bull permits were issued. Seven hunters were successful. Since that time, Utahs moose herd has increased rap-il- y and is extending its range. It is reportedly one of the few herds in the world that is increasing in numbers and area. . Well, for one thing, they are metal called thousands and today, buildings of them are springing up over the country as schools and office buildings, factories and shopping centers. Accounting for more than 15 per cent of all the single story non residential construction, these brave new- edifices bear little resemblance to their World War II ancestors. One reason is a revolutionary vinyl scrim foil facing material that beautifies a metal building interior while strengthening its insulation. Called Ultralam, this new substance gives interiors a smooth wall like finished appearance. Ultralams cracked ice pattern has an embossed surface which not only improves the aesthetics of ceilings and walls, but also serves as an efficient vapor barrier. Developed by Stauffer Chemical Co., the facing is a laminate of vinyl film, proprietary scrim and aluminum foil that is bonded to fiberglas blankets by insulation manufacet pre-engineer- facing materials. Time is also saved. For example, at a recent construction project in Pennsylvania, more than 64,000 square feet of four foot wide Ultralam faced insulation, supplied by Metal Bldg. Insulation of Cleveland, O., was installed in little more than two weeks. The story is the same everywhere. A St. Louis con- ed - sulting aijchitectjural firm recently okayed the use of Ultra0 lam for ceilings in a huge 210,-00- square foot warehouse built the for Virginia Port Authority at Newport News, Va. Cattle Crossbreeding Proving Profitable Research indicates that the majority of Utah cattle ranchers believe that cross breeding of cattle is more profitable than confining animal breeding to one breed. Most of the ranchers interviewed in the Utah State University study could discern little of any difference in the price per pound brought by the cross bred animals. But they reported that the crossbred animals weighed more at weaning to sell for about $20 more per animal. A companion auction study seemed to indicate that buyers are not discriminating as much as they once did against crossbred calves in the market. turers. Installation is simple. Once butted together the insulation blankets can be joined by pressure sensitve adhesive tabs on the blankets. Or they can be stapled together.
