The wife of Senator Hart of Michigan is refusing to pay her federal income tax because she doesnt like the way the tax money is being spent. She apparently supplied the IRS with information about her income. She differs from our local tax fighters in that she admits that the tax is owed while the others claim there is no delinquent tax. I suggest that the proper way to avoid paying income tax is to avoid having a taxable income. If Mrs. Hart actually does have a taxable income, then she should pay the tax. Slightly Disguised Editorials by Mark . Anderson Salt Lake City Commissioner James L. Barker is getting plenty of publicity for his announced stand against the Planned Parenthood Association giving contraceptives to young unmarried girls without parental consent. I think he has missed what should be the main issue does the government have a right to spend any tax money on such a program? I say the government has no right to participate in such a program. - U.S. Census figures indicate that the birth rate in the United States has been declining for many years, even before the PPA got started. The birth rate is at an all time low, and, if the trend continues, we will soon have a declining population. The population of Hungary has been declining for several years. Apparently the Hungarians feel that their country is no place for children. The Utah branch of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) agrees with me in part on something. I say that the records of individuals transactions at banks are private and should only be shown to government agents with permission of the individuals or by presentation of a valid court order. Valid court orders forcing production of private records are rare because of the protection of the 4th and 5 th Amendments. The ACLU says banks should not open record books simply on request, but should give up records after time has been allowed for redress in court. According to the Review of the News, George Wallace is leading all candidates in popular votes in the Richard Nixon is second, primaries as of Humphrey third, McGovern fourth, and Muskie fifth. Wallace leads McGovern by a 3 to 2 margin in the popular vote. In delegate votes for the Democratic Party nomination, McGovern is first, Wallace second, and Humphrey third. mid-Ma- y.
