Dr. Olson graduated from Utah State University, and obtained his MD degree from Northwestern University Medical School. He interned at LDS Hospital, with residency at the General Hospital of Riverside County, in Ailing- ton, California, after which he entered private practice. While in Murder? Utah state Senators join Representatives in joint session. was rejected in the last legislature and should be in this one. IIB 204 MANDATORY DEATH PENALTY (Frost, Dmitrich, and Mecham) Provides for the mandatory death penalty for murder of a police officer while engaged in the performance of his duties. This is a reasonable bill and would do more to halt the murder of police officers that is on the increase than any other single act. We commend the sponsors of this bill for coming up with something that works for the people instead of against them. We urge its passage. IIB 225 LOCAL OPTION TAX (Mecham) Permits counties, cities and towns to levy an additional one-haper cent sales tax. Most of the cities and that are having trouble are those begging for more federal handouts to start more local federal programs which they can- not afford to support once they - lf get underway. It is a simple matter to cry for more taxes to feed their insatiable appetites, These politicians can only be con- - trolled at the pocketbook and we think they should be controlled, This increase would be just a pre- lude to the next increase. They must be stopped someplace and that place should be now. In the previous session they voted to raise the sales tax with the argu- - enforcement. That was a lie which was designed to trap the unwary since the money is not and goes to whatever spending is dekired by the politi- cians. We ask for a no vote on this. ear-mark- ed IIB 331 - ELIMINATE 70 PROVISION AT POLITICAL PARTY CONVENTIONS (Taylor) There are not many things upon which we would agree politically with the sponsor of this bill. We do agree, however, that by allowing a political party to let a candidate, who gets 70 of the delegates votes at a con- - vention, become the partys nom- ineewithour a primary election is taking away the right of the people in general to vote. We therefore are in favor of s ting that provision, IIB 320 SAFE WATER ACT (Cottle and Smith) Prohibiting the addition of any substance, such as fluoride, to public drink- ing water supplies other than chlorine or such treatment solely for purposes of purification. We commend the sponsors of this bill water supplies is dictatorial in the extreme. We urge the legislature to get this out of the sifting committee and get it passed during this session. n (Barnett, Bunnell, Buckner and Jensen) This bill proposes a con- stitutional amendment to remove school districts from being consti- tutional subdivisions of counties. Therefore, it would pave the way for consolidation of school dis-ticts across county lines. This is a further breaking down of con- Bistent and coherent government. intheregion-SALE- C Tj p S Blit now, Stor A Way Corp. has made food Storage easier with the F16W Stor A Way Inventory and fT For your Stor A Way Planning and Inventory Kit, Send 25 cents to: Vegetables - Dry Yeast - Kerosene Lamps - Dried Eggs - Coal Stoves - Canned Meat - Wheat Grinders Bread Mixers - Vitamins - Storage Books - Animal Traps - Dried Soups - Dried Beverages - Emergency X Tools - Water and Food Storage Containers - Candles X - Water Purification Equipment - Molasses - Salt.
