Show THE UTAH INDEPENDENT How the Black Panthers Operate F.B.I. (Continued from page 7) disclosed. Senator John L. McClellan, Chairman of the Senate Permanent Investigations Subcommittee has issued a twenty-thre- e volume report of extensive hearings entitled Riots , Cicil and Criminal Disorders. The subversive activities of the Communist-directe- d Black Panther Party are spelled out in careful detail. But in spite of all this we read in a UPI dispatch of January 27, 1970, this kind of statement from U.S. Deputy Attorney General Richard O. Kleindicnst: T don t regard the Black Panthers as a menace to the internal security of the United States. They arc the extreme outward manifestation of a social problem." It is because Americans it ant to solve the social problems ot its minorities that it has tolerated the criminal violence of the militant groups as long as they have. It is high time Deputy Attorney Generals and other misguided, superficial students of the subject stop excusing revolution to burn the country down as merely a manifestation of somebody's desire to solve a social problem. This conspiracy is out to create the worst social, economic, political and military problems the United States has ever faced. Mr. Hoover and others have warned us that much ot the revolutionary violence is being financed by some of the richest people in America. Once again, believing that they are solving some kind of social problem, they have been pouring their treasures into the pockets of the most violent professional revolutionaries. Unfortunately, the Federal Government's Office for Economic Opportunity has been found doing the same. It simply demonstrates the absolute necessity for a far greater publicity effort and a much broader public education program as to the profound realities confronting this nation. Unfortunately, the vast majority of the newspapers, national magazines, radii) and TV combines, have not been in sympathy with such a proposal. They have insisted upon excusing the excesses which we observe all around us as merely a passing phase, of social and economic .problemsolving. In many ways it is almost identical with the psyin law enforcechological climate which ment will recall during the two years just before Pearl Harbor. The media had actually insulated the people against any realistic appraisal of what was happening. However, they shouted to high heaven for some Admiral's scalp just as soon as disaster struck. will also recall that the myopic distortion of the news by the media and the apathy of the country toward the pending danger did not reduce in the slightest degree the demands which the public immediately made upon the law enforcement profession when doomsday struck. Fortunately, we had ignored public indifference and had gone right ahead preparing for that which seemed virtually inevitable. When it came time to do the job, we did it.. Circumstances would strongly suggest that in the not too distant future we may have the job to do again. (Next month: The Coming Campaign to Split the United States. ) the 0 rs revolution. They also called for the establishment of an underground movement, using guerrilla tactics such as those employed by Arab terrorists. They stressed the absolute ncccssit) of killing police and called for extensive self instruction in the use of guns and hotnhs. Weatherman a Communist Support Group Mr. Hoover pointed out that Weatherman policy continues to openly support the enemies of our country. In July, 1969, several of the groups leaders traveled to Cuba where they conferred with North Vietnamese representatives. Later, other Weatherman members went to Cuba under sponsorship of the Brigade, which recruited admirers of Fidel Castro to assist in harvesting Cubas 1970 sugar cane crop. The FBI Director also noted that the Chicago violence resulted in the indictment of a number of the principal leaders of the Weatherman group.
