Approval for introduction of this new game animal onto the National Forest came after Fish and Game Department and Forest Service officials reviewed and analyzed habitat data which indicated compatibility of mountain goats with programs on the Wasatch National Forest. Mountain goats prefer rough and rugged terrain not normally used by domestic livestock, or other big game animals. No serious conflicts are, therefore, anticipated. The plans for introduction of the goats were reviewed with Salt Lake City officials and Board of Big Game Control members. The road now has been cleared and all damage repaired. The visitor center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week and provides an excellent view of the mine and its operations. A tape recorded message gives facts and details about the mine.
