Show j THE CITIZEN 10 HUBS OTDSISKS BAUER SMELTERS ANNOUNCE NEW FLOTATION TREATMENT An important new phase for in the intermountain country is announced by the Combined Metals Reduction company for their Bauer plant when on April 15th three new sections go into operation. Completion of the new unit will allow the Combined Metals Reduction company to treat oxidized lead-silv- er ores and oxidized lead-zin- c ores as well as sulphide ores, an important innovation in flotation. hy-drometall- ' notably the Chief Consolidated and the International Smelting, have been experimenting with flotation of oxidized Other companies, ores but so far as is known, the Combined Metals Reduction company is one of the first organizations to undertake this operation on a custom basis. Perfection of a process for treating ores of this type opens a vast field of possibilities in as much as there are large tonnages of low-graoxidized ore deposits at Stock-to- n de j Utah, and Pioche, Nevada, and many other western camps. Up to the present time, these have been worthless because they could not be economically milled or smelted. Now the ban has been lifted and these ores can be marketed with profit. Capacity of the Combined Metals plant has increased to a total of 450 tons daily by the addition of this new section. On April 15, the company's new unit of three sections having a combined capacity of 250 to 275 tons daily will go into operation after a test period of 2 weeks. This increase has been necessitated in order to take care of augmented production from the company's Pioche properties and its customs business originating from Idaho, Colorado and Utah. This is not the first occasion on which the Combined Metals Reduction company, headed by E. A. Snyder of Salt Lake City, has accomplished pioneering work in metallurgy. It built the first commercially successful selective flotation plant in the intermountain field and put this plant into operation in May, KM n on ism? The Utah Delaware prepares to increase the shipment of copper ores. At one time this property was a low-co- st copper producer but of late has been shipping mostly lead ore. The present price of copper is said to warrant cleaning up old stopes and placing the mine in condition for production. At one time the old Yampa mine, now owned by the Utah Delaware, was such a heavy producer of copper ore it had its own smelter. Last week 3,000 tons were shipped over the company's aerial tramway. A shipment of copper ore is ready for the smelter from the Copper Jack and the Flying Dutchman properties of the Silver Shield Mining company. These mines are situated about 125 miles to the west of Eureka. A vein of ore, said to average about 25 per cent copper, has been exposed for a distance of 90 feet. Considerable work was done on these properties years ago but have laid dormant since 1910. The Silver Shield company acquired the properties in 1927. Estimated earnings of the North Lily Mining company, a subsidiary of the International Smelting com RAGS RUBBERS IPAE pany, for the first quarter of 1929, discloses that the company's net income is far in excess of dividend requirements. The net returns of $346,429.64 is a unique record. The Kearsarge Mine at Ophir reports a new and important strike in the Ophir Bullion tunnel. Develop- ment work has been proceeding for some time on the Tliad Stevens fissure, one of the most prolific in the Dry Canyon district. This fissure has been carrying from 12 to 15 inches high grade ore since it was encountered and reports claim that the beding now struck is the rich Queen of the Hills notable in earlier About days for rich production. 100 tons of ore are awaiting shipment to the smelters. As soon as weather conditions permit it is planned to augment the working force by 15 or 20 men. $ The New Bingham Mary Mining company filed articles of incorporation in the county clerk's office recently.
