Show 2 THE CITIZEN states to During 1927 natural gas was used as fuel in manufacturing establishments in twenty-tw- o the extent of 545,490,000,000 cubic feet. (Report of Hon. Herbert Hoover, Secretary of the United States Department of Commerce.) In many of these cities natural gas contributes to the manufacture of nationally known and used products. Pittsburgh steel products produced by natural gas go all over the world. Akron, Ohio, is the center of the automobile tire production. Dallas, Texas, makes cotton goods. Fort Worth, Texas, has the large meat packing plants of Armour and Swift Companies. Joplin, Missouri, is the center of large zinc mining and smelting plants. At Canton and Columbus, Ohio, natural gas is used in making Timken roller bearings. At Lancaster, Ohio, and Mt. Vernon, Ohio, are large plate glass factories, making windshields for automobiles. NATURAL GAS IS THE IDEAL FUEL for the manufacture of glassware, bottles, glass containers, window glass and automobile windshields; for brick glazed tile, crockery and pottery ware; for smelting and all metallurgical processes; for steel products of all kinds. 8 8 The mountains of Utah contain vast deposits of sands, clays and other minerals available and suit-abl- e for the manufacture of all these articles. With an abundant supply of natural gas, with unlimited raw material and large markets in easy reach by railroad, no reason exists why the cities and towns in the Salt Lake Valley should not grow and prosper and take their places among the great cities of our wonderful country.
