Show THE CITIZEN 2 s s ' : s s i NATURAL GAS jb A BOON TO THE HOUSEKEEPER The report of the Department of Commerce of the United States, issued under the direction of Hon. Herbert Hoover, Secretary of Commerce, for 1926, shows that during the year over 18,000,000 users ot states consumed 289,175.000,000 cubic feet, for which natural gas for household purposes in twenty-tw- o they paid $167,940,000.00, an average of 58.1 cents per thousand cubic feet More than 15,000,000 of these domestic consumers depended entirely on natural gas for heating their homes. There are many reasons why natural gas is the b BEST AND MOST ECONOMICAL FUEL EVER DISCOVERED IT IS CLEAN. Natural gas burns with a clear, blue flame, without dust, dirt or smoke. 2nd. IT IS CONVENIENT. Natural gas is delivered to the consumers premises through pipes, when and as needed. No storage is required. You pay only for the actual amount used. 3rd. IT SAVES LABOR. Natural gas gives instantaneous heat; simply turn the valve, touch a light to the gas burner, and the full intense heat of the gas is ready. When through cooking, turn the valve off and the heat and expense stop. No carrying kindling and coal. No building fires. No ashes to carry out. 4th. IT IS CHEAP. Compared with other fuels, natural gas is the cheapest fuel known. It is twice as efficient as manufactured gas, and costs half as much. For house heating, when used in the usual type of gas stove, approximately 8,000 cubic feet of natural gas will give as much heat as one ton of bituminous coal. 5th. YOU CAN USE YOUR PRESENT GAS RANGE AND FIXTURES. If you have a standard gas range, it can be used for natural gas. A slight adjustment of the burners is required, which our expert service men will be glad to make, without charge. A modern type natural gas burner can be installed in your central heating plant at slight expense. In most cases, your present water heating installation can be utilized. 6th. SAVES TIME. With no kindling or coal to carry in or ashes to carry out with no dust, soot or dirt in the house, no waiting for stoves and rooms to heat up, or fires to die out when through cooking, the housekeeper has more time to devote to other purposes rest, study, civic problems, or anything she may desire. 1st. s ib JOHN McFADYEN, L.
