Show THE CITIZEN 5 WORTHY DEEDS OF MEN ARE GENERALLY BROUGHT TO LIGHT AFTER DEATH EVIL prevail over good on earth ? Looking back into history and checking important events, one would nearly be forced to admit that evil does prevail. Adam and Eve were punished because they ate an apple. The prophets of old were severely punished by unscrupulous rulers and for centuries the people were continually in war murdering each other. Socrates, rated as the greatest philosopher of all time, was imprisoned for his teachings and was forced to drink poison and die. Christ came teaching good and brotherly love, and he was nailed to the cross as a heretic. Galileo said the world was round and he was burned as an emissary of the devil. Good people were burned as witches in the early days of Massachusetts. Abraham Lincoln, a friend of the people, in whose heart there was not one trace of malice, was foully murdered. And so one can trace the records of history and find how the good have been made to suffer and even forced to give up their very lives. But tyrants seldom are molested and ofttimes have forced themselves to the front as rulers and dictators. A shining example has been given in Russia since the World War. Can it be a crime to do good for humanity? Why does the good man invariably pay the price while the bad are allowed to escape ? Just recently a Mr. C. L. Bradford was fortunate enough to discover a new food oil. The oil is not medicine nor a chemical compound, yet those who have taken it swear by all that is holy that it has given to them a new lease on life and disease has completely vanished as if by magic. It is said that these oils are especially and curative in cases of cancer, goitre, varicose veins, blood poison, affections of the throat and lungs, etc. It is also stated and many sworn statements have been made that many sick people who have been given up by the doctors have and are being cured. The state board of health heard of the new oils and found a man who had a cancer using these oils. This cancer was said to have been about a foot in diameter, but after using the oils for a month the cancer had been reduced to about four inches. Then a health inspector stepped in and stop DOES ben-offici- al ped the use of the oils and C. L. Bradford was arrested for practicing medicine without a duly prescribed license. Bradford denies that he practiced medicine and he admits he is no doctor, but does state that people have made some remarkable cures with his oils. If Mr. Bradfords oils can cure the sick, we believe it is a virtue and not a crime. If our state laws are so framed that no one but a doctor may save a human life, then there is something wrong with that law and it should be amended so as to protect the inherent rights of the people. Have Mr. Bradfords oils killed any people? If they have, then the law should act accordingly, but if this new food oil is doing good, then we would like to know, why the present persecution under the guise of justice. Businessmen are rallying around Mr. Bradford and suggest that he build a large clinic in which to treat the sick with his oils under the direct supervision of expert medical a great musical treat and should be' taken advantage of by every one who can attend. Plans have been made to seat 20,000 persons in the west bleachers of the stadium. The presentation is made possible through generous donations of a number of civic enterprises. Fred W. Reynolds of the University of Utah has been in charge of the financial end of the production. Salt Lake should certainly get behind this movement now, so that we may continue to have this beautiful music. Those who are giving their time and talents surely deserve our hearty THE VANISHING WHALE. The whale is threatened with extinction as a species, says Lewis of the Bureau of Fisheries. He Rad-cliff- e, suggests that an international com- mission be established to conserve and control the capture of these interesting animals. By a system of licensing whalers, he thinks, the waste- - ful practices of killing them could be eliminated. Although whale oil is no longer used to any considerable extent for illumination purposes, it is now in growing demand for use in the manufacture of soap, cosmetics, lard sub-- t stitutes, candies, glycerine and in various delicate devices used by machinists. The annual production of whale oil amounts to 61,000 gallons. When a Norwegian whaler arrived in New York a few months ago it had no difficulty in disposing of 48,000 barrels of oil at a good price. It required 600 whales to produce that much oil. More than 25,000 whales were killed last year.
