Show THE CITIZEN 4 k industries would mining and be developed to an extent far beyond the ken of those unfamiliar with the latent possibilities of. this region. There are probably at this moment no funds available for a project of this magnitude. We hasten therefore to assure our readers that we have no desire, inclination or reason to criticise or interfere with the present plans or policies of our state road commission. It is our belief that that bbdy is already confronted with problems far beyond the comprehension of the ordinary layman and is handling its funds in a manner entirely consistent with the circumstances and conditions under which it is now compelled to work. We do believe, however, that ways and means may be found live-stoc- whereby additional funds can be secured which will permit of the state building many more miles of hard surfaced highways and that to without any perceptible increase in taxation. It is fast becoming palpably apparent that roads of this nature are becoming more and more necessary to the future development of Utah's unlimited but erstwhile dormant resources. The very highest types of paved roads are no longer considered luxuries To those communities whose desire it is to grow and prosper to an extent commensurate with present day requirements they are absolute and positive necessities and are becoming more and more so every day. To Salt Lake and other commercial and a industrial centers of the state, the Uintah basin is a veritable gold mine lying at their very door. All that this city has to do to reap the rich emoluments there from, is for its business men to wake up, get busy and join the energetic and farsighted citizens of the basin counties in their efforts to secure adequate, economic and uninterrupted all year traffic facilities between that section and this city. The people of the basin say that a concrete road of modem type and design will do it. Such being the case the business men of Salt Lake and for that matter the whole state of Utah, should get behind them with every available ounce of support and work with them untiringly to that end. accounts are a convenence or a temp- - tation, whether bargains are bargains or unnecessary expenditures.
