Miss Gladys George will be seen in the dressy, sparkling title role which Miss Bordoni played. As Georgine Mazulier, a fiery maid of France, who finds romance in a American millionaire, Miss George will have one of the most intriguing roles of her career, a role which calls for elaborate costuming. Thomas, and it became Miss Bordonis greatest success, although, strange as it may seem, she did not tour the country with it and as a consequence Salt Lake is getting its first opportunity to see the play when the Wilkes Players present it next week. . The story of the play concerns a little French beauty who lures wealthy folks to buy rare old fake antiques in order that her parents, Baron and Madame Mazulier (Noel Leslie and Miss Fanchon Everhart) and . self-ma- de her brother Rene (Franklin Parker) may exist. ' The deals are handled by an unscrupulous tradesman by the name of Jackson (Richard Tracy). The business goes along until Wellington Wick, the millionaire, comes along and Georgines parents conclude he will be a good match for her and a way out of the antique furniture business for them. The complications which ensue provide plenty of drama and comedy. Miss Daisy Del Wilcox, Miss Mildred Paver, Arthur Loft, Huron L. Blyden, Frank Perry and others have delightful roles. The French Doll will be presented every night next week with matinees Sunday, Thursday and Saturday.
